Q: Is this microwave safe?

A: This product is not microwave safe. We do not recommend that any wood products are put in the microwave as this could cause the wood to crack. Here are the care instructions for this product: Hand wash with a mild soap and cool water. Do not soak. Do not put in the dishwasher, microwave or refrigerator. Extreme changes in temperature will cause the material to crack over time. Dry thoroughly. Occasional use of mineral oil on the surface will help maintain its appearance. Q: Is this item food safe? I need to know if it is safe to place food (salami, cheese, crackers) directly on the wood tray without a bowl or plate - please do not use the same line about serving drinks and snacks.

This is cheaply made and the curves were jagged with rough areas that caught on everything, including putting slivers in my hand. It did not turn smoothly. I took it apart and discovered 2 of the ball bearings (and their plastic housings) were completely missing. The saving grace was that when I put it back together I didn't tighten the screw as much in the center of the base. This allowed it to spin a little more smoothly. It arrived much sooner than expected. I didn't pay much for it but was disappointed to find pieces missing.
