I prefer non-minty mouthwashes, so I pick kids’ ones. This one tastes good, but it’s not my overall favorite

Look, okay, I know I'm a grown adult using a product that is marketed more towards kids--let's get that out of the way up-front. Let's talk about why that's the case, and how this product does/n't deliver. Conventional Listerine is really not a very good product--it probably only exists because it predates many of the FDA's modern powers of enforcement. It's very effective, sure--so much so that it causes sloughing of the oral mucosal epithelium, which is not something we really need to have fewer layers of, in most cases. As a pharmacist with some teeth that have problematic nooks and crannies (and a preference for avoiding cavities), as well as the chemistry knowledge to know why fluoride is so important for actually upgrading the strength of tooth mineralization above default (I've actually taught people the material myself), and the science awareness to know that ample evidence shows fluoride rinses really do work to reduce the incidence of caries and other tooth decay, I wanted a rinse that could do the jobs of reducing oral bacterial burden and strengthening my teeth--without daisy-cutting my hard-working mouth in the process. Also, I'm over the "I stuck my mouth in front of a refrigerant pipe" blast-o'-mint flavors that apparently the oral health companies have decided adults only ever want. Blegh. I don't want to be kept awake by Altoids-grade mouth stimulation right before bed, thanks. By happy chance, then, I happened upon the "kids'" products at some point in the past, examined the ingredients and found them quite comparable to adult products in terms of efficacy and safety, and gave them a shot. The flavors are intentionally milder and more interesting, and even their mint version is more of a sweet spearmint than the wintergreen-dialed-to-11 of most conventional products. The use of acidulated fluoride (something many adult products don't do) is also more geared towards strengthening tooth enamel versus the conventional we-added-it-just-so-we-could-say-we-did fluoride-added rinses. All in all, I'm not sure I can go back to the conventionally-adult products, given the benefits. Now, let's talk about this one in particular: it has a sweet, citrusy taste, but apparently only if you use enough of it at once that the sweeteners can distract your tongue; after expectorating, or if you only use a little, the chemical taste of the cetylpyridinium chloride (the antiseptic in nearly all non-alchol oral rinses that work) comes through rather noticeably, which is certainly bearable but not great. The other flavors generally do a better job of masking it regardless of how much is present in your mouth. Like most of the rinses in this category, it may also dye the mucopolysaccharides in your saliva as they are denatured, creating blobs of gunk that are certainly easily removed, but you should check your tongue and teeth after spitting to ensure you did get them out. The pink in this case can make them a bit harder to see, versus the purple, green, etc. that other flavors/colors will produce. While I'd pick many of the other flavors over this one, if this is all that was left (as was the case I bought this one, actually--the in-stocks at my local Target have unfortunately been abysmal since the pandemic began), I'd still grab this one rather than going without.

I picked this up because Dr. Dray suggested using a non-minty mouthwash to minimize perioral dermatitis. This does work as a mouthrinse, but it tastes like nasty fake sugar.

Not remotely close to tasting like Lemonade. Bubble gum for SURE and not pink Lemonade. I was pretty disappointed about it and hate the taste of bubble gum, so that was pretty disappointing.

my kids, 6 and 9, wanted to try it because of the color pink and it's pink lemonade (which they can drink). the flavor is not good and now a total waste. they won't use it. My Target no longer carries the mint and cool mint. Also, the bottle is like the regular adult bottle, not the kid friendly one where u would squeeze for it to pump up like it used to.

My son picked this out. The flavor is pretty gross tbh, it doesn’t really taste like lemonade & the smell is bad too . It’s really sweet & feels like I’m swishing my mouth with juice. My 4 & 5 yr old weren’t fans of this mouth wash either. They prefer the act bubblegum & watermelon . So I guess I’ll go back to that.

Smells and tastes gross. My daughter loves mouthwash and has been using it for almost 2 years. I thought the pink lemonade was a fun flavor to try and I was wrong. Will be throwing it away and won’t buy this flavor again.
