Q: Do you think this could be used on an electric stove top?

A: The Lodge website says it does work on glass tops. It just takes a while to heat up.

A: Hand-wash only. All cast iron is hand-wash only. It will be ruined by putting it in the dishwasher.
submitted byHoffstir - 7 years agoA: Only hand wash cast iron and never use SOAP! The soap with get in the cast iron and your food will taste like soap. Use extremely hot water and scrub if you need to then coat it with oil after every use. The more you do this it will become non-stick. I have been using cast iron pans for 30 years. Here is a trick- If you have stuck on food after you have tried hot water pour salt in your pan and scrub with a paper towel or stiff brush. It will act like an abrasive and get off the residue. A: I have not tried it yet, but we do use our Lodge skillets on our glass top stove. Use just have to be careful when moving the cast iron as it can scratch the surface. I do love our griddle though. We just haven't had occasion to use it since having the new stove installed.

Q: Has anyone used this griddle on an induction stove? How well does it work? It says it's compatible, but I'm wary because the bottom side of the griddle couldn't possibly sit flat against the cooktop.

This is a kitchen must-have if you love cast iron. It’s a great tool for getting lots of bacon done at one time and it’s also great for grilling bread and buns for sandwiches. I’ve done steaks on it with great success and I plan to do hot dogs and grilled chicken next. It’s great for winter months when you just can’t get outside to grill. Or if your propane runs out right before you thought you might grill! It’s great to have on hand.

I had high hopes for this Lodge griddle as a means to finally cook MORE pancakes at the same time so I'm not left by myself in the kitchen when everyone else has finished breakfast. I had just retired a long-used All-Clad square griddle that had finally lost its finish. I thought that sticking would be the problem with the Lodge. Instead it was the issue of it being too lightweight a surface. The heating was extremely uneven. I have a good gas range and the griddle was placed over 2 burners set to low-medium heat. Even pancakes centered over the flame were coming out half underdone/half charred. I think it's also a problem that it's a double-sided pan. The reverse grill pan side doesn't help the flat side keep consistently even heat or browning. I returned it and will go to either a heavier Le Creuset iron with enamel griddle like the small skillet I love, or back to a nonstick like an All-Clad with heavier core for even browning.

Hey, this griddle is amazing and works great! I liek that people posted pics so here's mine. First use was blueberry pancakes. I got even heat across both burners, and served up delicious pancakes. They cooked quickly and evenly. Even the blueberries did not stick. Used butter on the grill in cooking. I lightly washed it before use, as it comes unboxed. Then used a small amount of coconut oil to coat it prior to use. I saw the review of someone who had their rust out. If you wash cast iron, you need to dry it immediately, then coat it lightly with oil. You can also revive your rusty griddle surface using that very same process.

Absolutely love this! Replaced the icky non-stick griddle that came with our gas stove with this. You need to take care of this (like all cast iron)— don’t leave any water on it, don’t wash with soap, and make sure you keep it seasoned (oiled). After the first couple of uses it has because very non-stick and is perfect for pancakes and sautéing veggies! I love that it’s non-toxic and will last!

We bought this to make cooking on the grill easier. It’s found a way into our regular home meals as well because it’s just a great little griddle. You can use soap to clean it as long as there is no lye (lie?) in the ingredients. Personally I use salt and a scrub brush, then rub a small amount of oil and let it heat on the stove for 10 mins after washing. Very easy.

When using cast iron, make sure you season it with oil! Wash with hot water, no soap. Use salt if you need grit to get stuff off. To dry I put it on the burner and no rust ever! You have to care for cast iron but the cooking results are worth it!
