This review is written by an expat Asian with an electric stove that used this wok for 8 months before writing this review. Good woks are hard to find and its non stick surface are actually built up from YEARS of cooking with the same wok. This product replicate that years of non stick built up coating the best if you know how to use cast iron. It is stable and retain heat very well. Need to adjust to your stove in terms of how much heat it retains. I burnt several meals trying to figure out my stove and how it relates to this wok. However, it is not that easy to use. It is very heavy and not suitable for people who have upper body strength issues especially hands and wrists. In terms reproducing "wok hei" in fried rice, it can only hold up 2 portions of rice with protein+vegetables. Any more in my opinion..results are inconsistent. Otherwise, stir frying a dish ..I say probably can fit up to 3 to 4 portions. AND the seasoning coating...it washes off when you cook something that has a lot of gravy in it or scrubbed it too much with iron scrubber and then you as the consumer have to built up the seasoning coating again and again. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT to know how to care for cast iron cookware, avoiding rust and maintaining the seasoning if you wish to buy this item. I don't like to do this, it takes a lot of energy to re-season this wok every time the seasoning is washed off by cooking stir-fries with gravy in it but this wok will last a long time with proper care.
I have been looking for a good wok. I wish I had found this wonderful wok sooner. This one is very well made at very reasonable price. I followed the instruction of care and it does not stick. This is a perfect wok to cook stir fry dishes. Love it. It is very heavy though.
I LOVE this wok. I have several Lodge cast iron skillets, and I am slowly expanding my collection of Lodge cast iron, which I LOVE, to include other pieces as well. I had my eye on this wok for quite awhile, and I am SO HAPPY that I was finally able to purchase it. I can create a wonderful stir fry of crisp vegetables, using fresh veges with minimal cooking oil, in a matter of minutes. The wok is an absolutely beautiful piece that looks lovely sitting on the counter top. This is a HEAVY piece and rather large so I recommend considering the space you have available for storage or displaying this wok on your countertop. This wok does not disappoint, and I highly recommend it. My only regret would be not realizing sooner that Lodge makes these fantastic woks! I have owned another wok in the past that was expensive but rarely used, and it eventually was donated. This wok is a kepper, and it will be used multiple times per week. like my Lodge cast iron skillets, which have become the main work horses in my kitchen. This wok is a GREAT value--inexpensive, functional, looks beautiful, will last forever if taken care of well, and it is manufactured in the USA by a well-established family-owned American company that has been in business for over 100 years. I've never been disappointed in any piece of Lodge Cast iron cookware.
