Q: Is there a trick to turning on the light? The switch isn't doing anything.
submitted by TinyAptMarie - 1 month ago
A: the light comes out of the bottom only. Take out the cookies. The light will shine on a table, but you'll only see it in a dark room.
submitted byCarlaH - 29 days agoA: I know this sounds silly, but have you taken the bag of cookies out of the tin? The bag blocks the light. If you have and it still isn’t working, you likely need to exchange it.

Q: I tried turning on the switch at the top - even without the biscuits in there, and I don't see any light. What am I missing??

Tasty shortbread plus a cute tree to reuse. Only drawback is sticker/tape on tree takes a while to remove. I’m going to order a couple more as gifts.

Faulty battery - 2 days ago
It's a very cute tin with tasty biscuits but the battery was dead on arrival and the tape holding the bottom on is ridiculous. Be prepared to shred your nails and scratch the finish off the tree. Who designed and approved this?
Cookies are delicous

And the tin is pretty. Although I wish the light would shine out of the body of the tree.

I thought this would project lights around the room but the "projection" is just Merry Christmas under the tree and it is very hard to see. A bit of a disappointment.

This is cute, but for the price, you'd think they would package it better. The tape they used to hold the bottom on is different than what was used in past years, and even on other products this year. It's REALLY hard to get off, it took the paint off in places, left sticky goop behind and is covering part of the projection die-cut in a spot too small to get fingers or an appropriate tool in there to help. Disappointed. Will try to get a replacement. There's a big battery warning sticker that comes off clean. Can't for the life of me understand this tape choice.
Nice, but the battery doesn't last

I love the design and the cookies are wonderful but the light doesn't last if you leave it on for a few hours every day, which IMO seems like a normal thing to do with this. Unfortunately the batteries are difficult to replace as well, but it is possible. Prepare to be frustrated trying to get the light back in position once you've swapped out the batteries. It's hard to describe but the screw is difficult to get into position. I still love it and I'll probably have to replace the batteries another couple of times this year because I leave it on for several hours at a time. The cookies are better than Walkers.

Brit here, and a huge fan of getting stuff from home. I have no idea who let this pass through to sale at M&S, but they should be fired. The light feature is so underwhelming and nothing like thier previous years of Christmas stuff. The tin is pretty, but a total pain to use. Big fail. Don't waste your money.

One of the best purchases for Christmas! The tin shines snowflakes and words on the table below. And it's filled with cookies, too!

It is cute but poor shipping packaging ever and some cookie tins are dented. Target don't use the protective materials to wrap the items. I would recommend people to get this one from local store.
Disappointing - No outward light projection

The light shines down at the bottom and spells out 'Merry Christmas' under the tree, which is fine, I guess. But you can only see that in a completely dark room. I thought the light would shine out of sides of the tree, too. But no, it's solid. No p place on the tree for light to shine outward. Batteries are not replaceable. Not worth the money. Shortbread is okay.

Shortbread cookies are mediocre. But we're all getting this for the decorative tin, right? Design is great but it's quite bulky. The projection is only at the base. It wasn't too impressive in store -- not for the price. Wish they had the rest of the tree light up somehow. It's quite dark against any other decorations on a mantel.
Beautiful tree with projection at base!

Lovely tree! The projection of “Merry Christmas” can be seen at the base of the tree - it displays on the surface of the table or whatever you place the tree on. On a glass table, it projected through the glass and onto my carpet (very cool), but my table has a frame, legs, etc. that were somewhat in the way of the projection so it’s better on a solid surface. See pictures on where to open it and what the projection looks like. Note, the other projection tin called Snowy Night projects from a dome on top, meant to illuminate a wall (not a ceiling), but this one projects at the base.
How to open.

The tree tin is so pretty and festive. It has the tiny black switch on the very top, and the light is also located right at the top on the inside. It means that you will have to remove the cookies before the projection would be able to be seeing in full. It looks very nice. The cookies are also nice shorbread cookies, shaped like little trees. They do taste great. The cookies may contain tree nuts.
