About the Author

José Julián Martí Pérez (La Habana, 28 de enero de 1853-Dos Ríos, 19 de mayo de 1895) fue un poeta y político cubano. Político republicano democrático, ensayista, periodista y filósofo, fue fundador del Partido Revolucionario Cubano y organizador de la guerra de Independencia de Cuba. Se le ha considerado el iniciador del modernismo literario en Hispanoamérica.
