Marvel Villainous: Infinite Power utilizes the existing platinum-selling Villainous game system with a few gameplay reflecting the shared universe and interwoven storylines of Marvel’s Villains. As such, Marvel Villainous is not designed to be compatible with previous Villainous games, but allows for increased player interaction and more strategic play.
Playing Marvel Villainous:
Take on the role of a comic book Villain in this asymmetric card game, and compete to complete your unique objective first. On your turn, you’ll move your Villain to a new location in your Domain and carry out the actions indicated by the icons there.
Icons allow you to gain power, play cards, vanquish Heroes, move Allies and Items around your Domain, and more. Players will pay power to play cards from their Villain deck, which contains Ally, Item, Effect, and Specialty cards to help you towards your objective. Specialty cards are new to Marvel Villainous and are used to make Villains even more formidable. Once played, each Specialty card can be used once per turn.
Players can also meddle with the fortunes of other Villains by playing Heroes, Events, Items, and Effects from the Fate deck. Also new to Marvel Villainous, Event cards inflict an ongoing penalty while in play. Villains must play Allies to Events to defeat them. All Villains with Allies at Events when the Event is resolved receive a reward. Three different game modes allow players to scale the difficulty of their game by facing more or fewer Events.

Such a cool game for Marvel fans! It takes some time to get the hang of each character for adults; I would imagine it’s not the best for young kids. Some cards also feel unclear and the rules don’t explain every possible weird scenario of play for them, leaving you guessing sometimes. The characters also match interestingly… we’ve only played with 2 people but a few of the pairings are very frustrating as they’ll pit you more against each other than other pairings (e.g. Thanos needs to defeat another’s allies to win but Taskmaster needs to acquire allies to win - pit either against someone else and they will likely get farther along). Each game took us anywhere from 20 minutes to 2 hours! Frustrations aside, we do like the game and recommend for fans. Have not played another Villanous game so can’t compare but would love to try one now!

This is an incredible game for your family if you’ve got a teen! Each character has its own unique strategy and motives. It’s going to be complicated for those under 12- but my ten year old can do it with a little help at first. Take a little time reading my all of the directions. It’s going to take about an hour to an hour and a half to play. But it’s not boring (we can never make it through Monopoly). Those familiar with the fantastic game, Villainous, will love this game. Warning: it’s played a bit different, so still look at the directions.

We liked the game and that characters could play on other boards, but we did not like the quality of the product. We have all the Disney versions and expected this to be of the caliber. It isn't. The game pieces feel like cheap plastic.

This was the most complex board game I’ve seen yet. It’s less of a board game, in fact, and more of a card game - like Magic, but more complicated. The instructions are a complete book and the instructional video on YouTube was 22 minutes long. If you’re just looking for a fun game to relax with, this is probably not your game. If, however, you want to become an expert gamer and have friends who are willing to do that with you, then this will be great. Bring your patience and get ready for a long play period.

Me and my wife as well as our 2 roommates play the villainous game all the time on weekends. The new marvel expansion is not only a waste of money but a complete waste of time as instructions are unclear, rules have been added and changed. We where so confused and uncertain about what to do we quit playing 10 min into the game. Way to destroy a perfectly good game. Extremely unsatisfied with this expansion especially because me and my wife and roommates where so excited to play. . . If 4 of us, every weekend players, cannot figure this expansion out there is an issue. Do not recommend it to anyone who actually plays the Disney villainous game. We have every expansion and have never been as disappointed as we have with the marvel expansion.
