A: Hi there! The "Blackest Black"-400 is the darkest of the colors. The "Very Black"-401 is a less intense black. The "Very Black" -411 is Waterproof. Hope this helps!

This is my go to mascara for years. It does exactly what it says. It’s going to do amazing definition and length. I always get asked if my eyelashes are real and how I get them to look the way they do. Love this mascara, but it’s getting harder to find on store shelves. Please NEVER discontinue this.

Did not like this mascara. Barely coats my lashes and did nothing for them as far as lifting or adding volume. I’ve tried tons of different mascara and this one just isn’t it for me.

This tube of mascara was honestly just disappointing! The quality of my usual Maybelline mascara has declined so I decided to use the rocket as an alternative. I bought this one because the brush shape was similar to my former favorite mascara, but the bristles on this new one are shorter and harder than what I was expecting. In addition to this, the mascara isn't waterproof (although it claims to be on the label) and it flakes off throughout the day which is really annoying because then I have to keep cleaning up my makeup! Overall, this is just not a very good mascara and I think I'm gonna try a different kind and throw this one away.

Not sure why the letting for “waterproof” is blue on the maybelline website but; this is my first time using the Volum’ Express Waterproof Mascara. I have NATURALLY long lashes and wanted a solid formula that does not budge/flake/smudge once dried onto the lashes + holds a natural curl. I put this on around 11 AM and it’s now 1:30 PM and so far this is preforming Awesome. I used 2 coats to get an idea of its wearability. 2 coats is enough to make my lashes dark + noticeable WHICH IS GREAT! Thus far; no flakes/no smudges/it has staying power. Curious about longevity.
Does lengthen, but smudgy and wand/spoolie is awkward.

This does provide good lengthening, but it smudes easily and is difficult to remove. The wand/spoolie is not shaped so it can go into the corners of your eye. It's completely flat on the end and I accidently poked myself in the eye with its sharp spikes when I tried to get into the corner lashes. It's not a terrible mascara, and with a better applicator I would have given it 4 stars.

I grabbed a few waterproof mascaras and this one had staying power, fullness and the least fall out. The first use will require a few layers, at least five. After that, 3-4 layers gets the look I need. VERY few flakes, we’re talking 3 pieces and I did not get the dreaded under eye shadow either.

My all-time favorite mascara, waterproof version of course! I love the wand and the formula, keeps my lashes up like no other! My only critique is Maybelline isn’t cruelty-free! I want to leave this mascara, but all the other ones I’ve tried do not perform as well as this one :( Cons are it smudges slightly, but not too bad, and you need a good waterproof makeup remover to get it off. Still on the hunt but as of right now, this is my go to.

If this mascara works for you, good for you then. I decided to give it a try after reading several good reviews and oh my gosh it smudges like crazy! I've tried many different ones from all kinds of brands (drugstore & high-end) and this one seriously is one of the worsts. It also doesn't perform the lifting and as a matter of fact, it makes my eyelashes get lower and less curly.
