It was quite a joy putting this together! The directions said 2-4 hours (!!) and they were correct. But it was easy to figure out with the lego-like instructions. Some steps easier with 2 people.

Typically, putting together something shipped from another country, with 3 pages of instructions requires two things never included in the package…..an excellent lexicon of creative curse words and beer with an 8-10% alcohol content. Hey, I needed neither! Lay everything out, take a deep breath, and slowly and methodically follow the EXCELLENT instructions, and whether your mechanically inclined or not, you'll have this together in an hour and a half to two hours. I dare say it was actually fun to assemble, and I despise assembly more than a DMV visit. This is a sturdy, attractive, high quality product. You will not regret your purchase, and you can happily reward yourself with a cool one AFTER you've built it, rather than drinking to blunt the anger and frustration that multi-step assembly is so well known for😎

The stand collapses once barrel is full. It takes hours to put together then once you start to use it full of green material —- how do you return this huge piece of plastic? I guess I am stuck with this! Doesn't turn but a fraction once full! Since it is stuck in upright position, I don't know how to empty this without digging material out as it won't turn to the down position.

My daughter set this up in just over an hour, so don't be scared off by reviews that claim it is hard to put together. Now named Henry, (it has personality!), our composter stands on the back deck and is fed our scraps regularly. I like the divided system which I'm sure will become even more useful in the spring when temperatures warm and the food can break down more rapidly. Have never used a rotating composter before, and it certainty is easy after all those years of turning compost with a pitchfork. Recommended!

I bought this composter for my wife to replace a worm bin that had seen better days. It wasn't difficult to assemble but I'm pretty handy with tools. The best thing I can say is that it has now withstood an attack by a bear. He tipped it over and managed to open one door but no damage was done. I guess he didn't like the nice compost that was brewing!

Stand collapses! Lock won't stay in unlocked position! All instructions screws, etc were used and followed correctly. Do not waste your money or time on this.

I assembled this today. I am not considered a particularly handy person. Yes, as another reviewer mentioned, it comes in a lot of pieces. But the instructions are excellent and Maze has a video that is very helpful. Take the time to organize and label the pieces before you start (I used post-it notes). You will be glad you did. The instructions say it will take 2-4 hours. I did it in 2 hours and 15 minutes. I'll follow up this review with another after I've operated it for a while.

We had the Gardener's Supply 3 wire cage system and even with the compost starter it had a hard time cooking here in the dry mountains. So we tried this barrel unit and things got better right away. We had to hire someone to put it together-it was way out of our league, but it's worth it now. Two compartments are great, compost is cooking, and with some added horse manure from our neighbor as our "brown" additive, it's looking good in there, ready for spring planting. It cooked even in the winter btw.. Love the ez crank and the little drainage window options. Love this.

Unless you have hours and the patience to spend hours assembling this, do not purchase! It comes in a million pieces. The least they could do is ship with the barrel already assembled. Regret the purchase.

Waiting for my first batch, but everything has gone super smoothly so far. Even my particular wife likes the way it looks. Don't be daunted by reviews re assembly. Like everything, one step at a time. Amazed at how much kitchen waste I was throwing in the trash-now it's gold! USE THE VIDEO for assembly

The composter is very sturdy. The directions are very easy to follow with wonderful illustrations. The parts are separated and labeled. This is my second above ground composter which I enjoy because it's easier to mix the food scraps and worms and vermin can't make a nest it them.
