Sorry McCormick, but this one is a total fail. You need to update your recipe. With all of the current knowledge we have about food, nutrition, and the damage that certain chemicals do to the human body, I'm disappointed that certain ingredients are still being used. At the time of this dyes creation, I'm sure it was perfectly fine to make it this way, however, that was because none of us knew any better. I find it hard to believe that you can claim that now. I've noticed an effort on your part on other items, such as your spices and seasonings. I am hoping that products such as these follow suit and you upgrade your company's standards for ingredients.

As much as spices turn food different colors, I am not an avid food color user. In playing with McCormick's red food coloring, I gave my dessert, a couple of drops of food color for my family to play with while enjoying fruit. A good way to get my family to eat fruit.

My daughter had to wear gloves the red stains and is hard to get off your hands but it's fun to use and mix it up with craft projects like when my daughter and I made puffy pain together. Thanks McCormick for sending us food coloring to sample for a review.

In the morning, I took it out of the box just to look at it to make sure it was the liquid kind vs the old fashioned powder stuff. I saw that the seal was on. I decided I was going to open it later when I was actually going to use it. I went to wash my face with my white wash cloth and it turned red! There must have been residue on the bottle. I used toner on my face AFTER my shower and more red was on my cotton ball! It does the job turning things red! Usage. The thing about dyes is it is hard to tell how much to use to get the desired color. When you mix it with white icing, it's hard to get it to bright red without using a lot of it because the white frosting turns it a bit pink in the beginning. So, it gets messy and you end up using a lot. Even in red velvet cakes. I like that the box suggests how many drops with popular food items that it would be used with, but counting to 25 is hard when kids are running around and screaming while you are trying to count! It definitely does the job, but takes practice to know how much to use. Please add a website on the packaging with more recipes that use food coloring and how many drops were used with photos comparing the color difference if x # of drops were used to make the same item, for example.
