Mega Construx Tyranitar

These Mega Construx instructions are so difficult to follow. In addition, the pieces do not stay attached. So when you get the Tyranitar almost finished, other pieces fall off when you’re trying to put the final touches on the head. Ugh. Too bad Pokémon didn’t strike a deal with LEGO instead. We will not buy MC again!

The set is wonderful! The instructions take a bit to wrap your head around, especially if you're used to LEGO builds, but the look and feel of the set is every bit as good. Doesn't look exactly like Tyranitar, but works well enough.

There are things I equally love and hate about this Mega Construx Pokémon figure. First off, I love the packaging, the perforated opening is wonderful, teat and go but not so much that it will tear up under routine jostling. After pulling out the 7 bags of pieces thats where the enjoyment ended. The instructions had the bags noted for each portion of construction but there were not accurate. After searching for a few pieces in the first 2 steps, we had to give up and empty all the pieces out and sort. There are way too many pieces for that. The assembly diagrams were pretty clear, no troubles in interpretation, absolutely made the assembly simple. The pieces themselves didn't always fit and needed some real muscle to force fit them. My son worked on this for about 2 hours and quit, I spent about an hour finishing the assembly. I was very impressed when it was finished, Tyranitar is a very good size and solid! I appreciate the thought behind the spikes detailing, with the exception of the head spikes, the back and tail spikes are actually soft and bendable! I feel if it breaks apart the places it would break easiest would be large enough to see where they fit back without having to dig out instructions. My son was impressed with the finished product but did not enjoy how long it took to assemble, no matter how big a Pokémon fan he is. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Once we got it together my son absolutely loved it we attempted to do this together we ended up taking it apart 4 times before we were able to get it altogether correctly it’s like steps were missing in the directions and then the next page would show additional pieces together it didn’t tell you about although it was a little stressful getting it together once we did it was very enjoyable and would definitely purchase others [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

First I want to mention that I am an adult Pokemon collector and have thoroughly enjoyed sharing this passion with my kids ( boy and girl ) I think even an eight year old would have problems putting this together, since the pieces need to be firmly pressed together with some force, otherwise it will not stay together. Though it would be a great activity to do together! Some of the instructions could be a bit clearer, as there are similar looking but not identical pieces and they are all mostly green. Maybe in certain areas they could add a descriptive text to aid those who may need more help. I liked how the instructions in most sections had smaller easier steps, perfect for those younger ones who want to build it alone. For added fun you can move the legs and arms, they are ball jointed for maximum movability. Once together Tyranitar looks amazing, he has a purple psybeam like buildable attachment that appears to come out of his mouth. The back is covered in green spikes for a edgy look. Overall it was so much fun building this and it will see lots of future play, we can’t wait to get more sets to build! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

This was a welcomed set for our Pokemon loving builders. They were very excited and quickly got to building. However, some of the pieces were very difficult for them to put together and even I had difficulty helping. This would be a good set for more experienced builders with patience. My 7 year old LOVED this!! It combined two of his favorites things, legos and Pokemon! The instructions were easy to follow so he was able to build this all by himself. Now that it is built, he loves being able to play with it and blowing out the fire. The only complaint my kids had was that it is a bit top heavy so when they were building it, his legs would split. They said he had joint problems! LOL Overall though, great toy and all my kids have enjoyed it! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

My kids have several of the smaller sets that come in pokeballs and enjoy each of them. My son's favorite is Tyranitar so this was a must have! It wasn't too difficult to construct and has been holding up fairly well during "battle". Pretty cool set! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

This was a great building toy that my son loved! He found the instructions easy to follow and then was able to enjoy playing with it and it held up with his tougher play. They loved the feature of the shooting out of the mouth. Overall highly recommend this fun toy [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

My children are ages 10(girl) ,11(boy) and 16(boy). The 11(boy) is an avid collector of similar sets from other companies. He has done sets with as many as 1000 pieces. For some reason he has had a hard time with this set stating the directions are not easy for him to follow. My 16 yr old(boy) is completing the build and has almost finished. All 3 kids love the character and colors of this set! Would definitely recommend for any kid that loves a challenge and interesting things to build. WOAH Tyranitar is AWESOME!

Ok so first, my 8 year old daughter is IN LOVE with Pokemon and Legos so this was right up her alley. She loves a good challenge too and at 396 pieces it creates one big sized model. This did give her a challenge but I love things that do because it stimulates the mind which is great for growing young kids. The packaging is really nice, it has an instruction book, the set is in separated bags to make it a bit easier and if you are a collector you can display the Tyranitar with its box because it's very appealing. The bricks are very easy to connect together but I am giving it a 4 stars because they don't always stay together when your child feels like they want to chase after her little brother with a dinosaur and she has to keep rebuilding it when he falls apart. Was hoping it would be just a bit more durable once connected but it is easy enough to put it back together after 20 times. She can do it almost blindfolded now (ok maybe a bit of an exaggeration but she's gotten pretty good). [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

My son, age 9, loved building this character. It was a little complicated finding the right pieces because they were all the same color, but he was determined to do it. He loves playing with the figure also. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Goes together hard

Thought this would be perfect for my kids. My almost 10 year old wanted to put it together and figured it would be like a Lego set but there were several large differences. Because of how hard it was to get many pieces to join together and the amount of tiny pieces, I don't feel this would be a good toy to purchase for an 8 or 9 year old. This feels more suitable for a 10-13 year old. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

My 8 year old son absolutely loved this Pokémon build. It took him a solid few hours to complete. There are a lot of small pieces, so definitely not suggested for young kids. It stands well on its own after completion. My son gives it a five star rating. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
