Q: If a baby was to stop breathing would this send you a notification?

submitted by Jae - 2 years ago
  • A: Hi Jae, This alarm will ring when baby is being monitored, no movement is detected, and baby's respiration is tracked as stopped. This alarm triggers in under thirty seconds. The no movement audible alarm triggers without any delay and it is delivered if your app is closed or open (an open app must have sound enabled).

Q: Does the monitor have to be permanently installed in one spot, or can you move it from room to room, depending on if baby is in the crib, playpen, bassinet, etc?

submitted by Mom 2 Girls - 2 years ago
  • A: We highly recommend that the miku be mounted tot he wall or the Pro stand. However, you can use the monitor for situations outline. Remember, moving bassinets and play pens may interfere with the Miku apps analytics. Thank you for this question.

Baby monitor was okay… when they had all the the heart monitor/breathing for free when they had video history for free. But now a monthly subscription for all of that. Camera quality is bad. Only good thing is that there is free lullabies you can play through the app for now. And you can send to grandparents etc to be able to see baby as well.

I used to love this monitor, it was perfect! Great video, tracked breathing without buying extra things for the baby to wear, room conditions, various sounds, sleep patterns, etc. Now they are requiring a subscription for these services that were previously free. NOT HAPPY.

Do not buy. We thought it was odd that Miku’s social media wasn’t active but still registered for the camera. Our baby came home in July and in August company went bankrupt. First they said there’d be a subscription then we were told at the end of August there would not be. Then in September they were sold and new company is charging $10/month per camera to access any features- save your money! This company will not be around long. The breathing didn’t seem accurate and was delayed anyways and the app struggled to keep running for extended periods of time- not worth $120 per year on top of the $400 for camera. Note: now you can’t even access the video stream unless you’re on the same Wi-Fi as the camera. Truly just a money grab Nanit gives you a free subscription for a year and even then, breathing monitoring & access outside of the home don’t require a subscription. Nanobebe has a new camera coming out that doesn’t require wearables or a subscription too! Also Target wouldn’t let us return the item because it was “too expensive” per store manager and not covered by registry or gift policies since company was sold per guest relations

Purchased 6 months ago (March 2023). This month with almost no notice, the app is now requiring a subscription for the key features. I followed up with the support team at Miku to get clarification but after multiple attempts, I am getting no response. They are withdrawing the functionality they originally sold me and requiring me to pay more money to regain it.

this product seemed promising but we've been using it since May and have had so many issues. First it was extremely difficult to add additional users and impossible to have more than 2 accounts so I had to let my nanny use my phone since I couldn't set her up and account to use on her own phone. Also the app crashes a few times a week, and the actual camera will make a clicking noise when reconnecting which wakes my baby up. The final straw was that they switched a subscription service for almost all of the features. This thing is now going straight to the garbage, it was the biggest waste of money.

We purchased this expensive monitor for the features touted on the website - live breathing, remote access, etc. They suddenly have gone to a $10/mo subscription model for all the original features, including the music function. Don’t waste your money on this junk, buy a cheap $20 camera that does the same thing.

I bought this product several years ago for about $400 using FSA money. This product was FSA approved due to the "medical" features offered (aka live breathing monitor). They've now locked the live breathing behind a monthly $10 subscription fee. WHY in the world would I pay extra for a product I spent $400 on?! It's basically the same as a $40 monitor now - you can't even a red it from outside of your own wifi anymore. TRASH - DO NOT BUY

The product is terrible for multiple reasons. For the first nine months, it worked, but we expierenced countless connection issues and had to frequently reset it. The breathing tracker was very glitchy along with the app and there is no hand held device besides the app that rarely works. Nine months after use, it completly stopped working after Miku did not involuntary software update. The device became literally useless as it would not even turn on. It came out in the news, that this update destroyed all Miku Pro cameras that were already sold and on the market. Customer service was useless and they did not care to help solve the problem. $400 plus on a monitor that only worked for nine months, and even when it did work, it was full of glitches. Save yourself the money & get the Owlet if you want a smart monitor.

DO NOT BUY. Miku has been bought by another company and all free features (breathing, analytics etc) that you buy the monitor for is now locked behind a subscription service as of October 2nd 2023. $9.99 a month on top of the $400 monitor that you can get the same function as a $20 monitor

We paid $400 plus more for the stand. Specifically paid more and purchased this monitor because it did not have a subscription model like all of its competitors. They recently added a $9.99+ month subscription to basically use this monitor for anything more than what a basic $20 monitor can do. Why at the very least could they have not grandfathered the people who purchased previously. Unfortunately I am outside my return window or would have returned. I will never purchase anything from miku again. I also had my family much younger than all of my friends and will also tell them to avoid unless they correct their change. I

My wife and I purchased Miku’s baby monitor with the hope (and assurance from Miku) of ensuring the safety of our little one, particularly when it comes to monitoring his breathing. However, our experience has been nothing short of disappointing due to the Miku’s decision to charge a subscription fee for this essential feature. Here's why I strongly discourage considering this product: 1. Exploitative Pricing Model: It is deeply disheartening to see a company take advantage of concerned parents by charging a subscription fee for a feature as crucial as breathing monitoring. This feels like an exploitative pricing model, preying on the fears and anxieties of caregivers who simply want to ensure their baby's well-being. 2. Essential Safety Feature Held Hostage: Breathing monitoring is not a luxury; it is a fundamental safety feature that should be a standard feature of Miku’s baby monitor. Charging an additional fee for this critical function is not only unjust but also puts parents in a difficult position, as they are forced to choose between their child's safety and their financial constraints. 3. Financial Burden: Raising a child is already an expensive endeavor, and adding a recurring subscription fee for breathing monitoring only adds to the financial strain. Parents should not have to worry about ongoing payments to ensure their baby's safety, especially when they have already invested in the monitor itself and having a breathing monitoring feature that has been free from the very start of its product debut. 5. Questionable Reliability: The Miku baby monitor has proven to be unreliable at times. False alarms, inaccurate readings, and frequent disruptions have eroded my confidence in the product's effectiveness. It is unacceptable to charge for a service that fails to deliver consistent and accurate results. In conclusion, the decision to charge a subscription fee for breathing monitoring on this baby monitor is both disappointing and unfair. It preys on the fears of parents and places an unnecessary financial burden on them. I strongly advise against purchasing this product, as there are alternative baby monitors available that offer essential safety features without the need for ongoing payments.

DO NOT BUY. We purchased the Miku after extensive research because it was advertised to have incredible features such as live feed monitoring from anywhere you are, lullabies and white noise, and even two-way talk capability. NOW that they have declared bankruptcy and been acquired, they are forcing people to pay for a subscription fee for things that were once free. Complete SCAM!

I have spent hours debating which smart baby monitor I wanted to purchase for our first baby & decided to go with the MIKU PRO over the following reasons: -required hardware for mounting the camera is all provided in the box along with a cable track and wall anchor - App set up was a breeze - did take some time to find my Wi-Fi but was not a problem after it was connected. - the video quality!!! it is remarkably great for such a small camera. - no subscription required to make use of all the functions -allows for saving all sleep data versus only saving for a few days. -you do not have to purchase any additional equipment such as swaddles, or additional clothing to help monitor respiratory status. - live breathing tracking Overall, there is so much functionality to this baby camera, I am very happy with my purchase!
