My daughter didn't even make it out of the driveway and the chain broke! Not come off, it snapped when she changed gear! Since Target isn't taking any returns or exchanges at the time, I had to spend $30 at a bike repair shop to put on a new one. When I called Target customer service, she told me to buy another bike and return the broken one when they do start accepting returns. That's a laugh.

What a great bike! Let me start by saying, I'm an adult, and this review isn't based a child flipping aggressively through gears causing them to malfunction. My bike came assembled and all I needed to do was air a tiny bit of air to the tires. The gears changed surprisingly smooth for the price. The seat is relatively uncomfortable, but I've always replaced my seats or used a cover anyway. It looks awesome too... (Why I bought it lol) Overall, I would recommend this bike based on my first impressions. Build quality is promising, but only time will tell how well it holds up.

I gave this item 5 stars, because of its value. I was hesitant about a bike in this price range. However, I was pleasantly surprised. I’ve ridden it around town and through some smooth trails. It tackles everything I through at it, even the occasional steep descent with bumps. The 21 gears are nice, helping to avoid burnout pedaling uphill. The gears are a little clunky, but fine once you get used to them. The bike squeaks when riding and I’m not really sure where from or why. However for the price I paid I’m very satisfied with it and it also looks pretty cool.

First off, I truly think this bike is a solid 4 star rating. However, as of the of this review, I thought that the overall rating of the bike on Target is unfairly low because 2 of 3 previous reviewers rated 1 star based on assembly issues, so I threw in an extra star to balance it out. I was looking for a bike to take on casual bike rides around my neighborhood that was on the low end of the price scale, didn't look stupid, and that could deal reasonably well with hills that are all over my town. This 18 speed beauty seemed to deliver on all 3 and it was in stock at my local store! ONE PROBLEM that I've had is with these two hex bolts that secure the handle bars wiggling loose. First the top one came loose about a week after purchase, with about 20 miles total ride on the bike. I tightened both at that point and it fixed the issue, but 3 weeks and 50 miles later the bottom one was wiggling loose again. Kind of annoying. I'm going to replace both with a slightly smaller bolt secured with a nut on the other side and that should be the end of that. Granted, the bike is rated for about 200 lbs and I'm 190 and have a 36 lb passenger on a seat fastened over my rear tire so I am likely exerting a bit more force on those bars than intended. If you're going to put a pouch on this bike, keep the hex wrench that came with the bike in there in case you have the same problem. Other wise I like the feel of the suspension, the tires are knobby and perform well on road and various trails, the seat could be more comfortable but for $160, I got exactly what I hoped for out of this and with a couple of cheap bolts this thing will be perfect! Great Bike for the Price! I Bought the bike fully assembled from the store. After doing a once-over to ensure it was properly assembled, I needed to put air in the tires and adjust the seat... otherwise it was ready to ride.

A Piece Fell Off

We were able to take the bike home fully assembled from the store. After about 30 minutes of my son riding it, the derailleur fell off as he was switching the gear! We would expect the basic mechanics of the bike to operate as intended under standard use. However, this fell well short of that. Thankfully he wasn't hurt.

Terrible Experience

Terrible experience. Ordered from Target online. I thought the bike would be assembled when I got there. learned I had to assemble it myself. The manuals assembly instructions are terrible. The manufacturer has a few very short generic videos on assembly which are of little use. The only way I was able to assemble it was from some videos on YouTube that offered assembly instructions on bikes in general not on this specific bike. The bike is still not ready to be ridden due to a problem with the front brakes. I can't comment on the actual functioning of the bike but if you buy one unless you are very familiar with bike assembly get one that is fully assemled or know a bike shop that will assemble it for you.

Hi Tom, We’re sorry you were unable to pick up an assembled bike as you were expecting. Many times the retailers do not assemble the site to store orders unless they’ve been contacted prior. The bikes are shipped 95% assembled and we do our best to make them quick and easy to get together. Our manuals are general manuals for the type of bike purchased and not specific to the model itself; I’ll be sure to pass your comments on to our product managers concerning the layout of the manual. We’d like to help ease the frustration you’ve had during this process and walk you through any steps that need to be taken to get your brakes working so you can enjoy your new bike. We’re available to help Monday-Friday 8am-5pm CST at 800-626-2811. If you would prefer to email us, you can do so at customerservice@pacific-cycle.com. Thanks, Jen
