Q: Why is. Espresso coming out burnt or sour tasting? I've only owned the machine for 2 months and the quality is very hit or miss. I've tried all the cleaning methods and have gotten a tamper.

Probably 5 years ago or more I bought my first Mr Coffee espresso machine and loved it! It produced excellent espresso with beautiful crema and foamed milk (real or otherwise) excellently. Third try with this one and very disappointed. Flat coffee and milk no matter what I do. Wish the old one hadn't died.

An espresso maker may not produce steam for frothing milk for the following reasons: 1. The frothing tube isn't clean. Wipe with a damp cloth immediately after each use so the milk does not dry and clog the frothing tube. 2. The frothing tube is clogged. Remove the black frothing aid from the frothing tube. Clean the frothing tube by filling a frothing pitcher halfway with water, and run the steaming feature for twenty seconds. Insert a toothpick or paper clip into the hold of the frothing tube to clear any clogs. Fill pitcher with clean water and froth for an additional 30 seconds. 3. Check the water levels. Not enough water in the reservoir may cause the machine not to produce steam when frothing. If the frothing tube is producing steam, but the milk is not frothing, try the following: 1. Always use fresh, cold milk. 1% or skim milk is best. 2. Use a stainless steel frothing pitcher. Try using a frothing pitcher and make sure the pitcher is cool before using. 3. Move the frothing pitcher slightly up and down while frothing. Your Mr. Coffee® 4-Shot Steam Espresso, Cappuccino, and Latte Maker has a 1-year limited warranty. The filter wand is very poorly made. After a while the handle cracks then breaks off entirely so you can no longer use it. This is a replacement part that they do not sell. After the last one broke I tried another brand for about a year then thought that maybe Mr Coffee fixed the issue but the one I just purchased is even cheaper feeling & fits so tight that I'm going to return & find a different brand to try.

Liked it until the filter cup thing broke in less than a year. I was taking it off to empty used espresso and the cheap plastic handle broke. I've had it about 10 months and use it every day.

I like that it’s compact but out the box the frothed steamed while brewing and the drip only worked in steam mode. I think it’s defected but still not a simple process.

white residue

This is a brand new machine and I noticed a white waxy residue always appear on the perforated plate through which water gets into the filter. I don't think this is a limescale issue since it's brand new and I only use filtered water. Also,I washed it thoroughly numerous times using vinegar etc but the residue formation persists. I'm not sure whether this is normal or dangerous.

I liked the idea of it (cheap espresso) but my did this suck. It didn’t make any of the layers of espresso and it was abnormally strong? It was also sus having a plastic machine make something hot.

This is really just an absolute waste of money. I cannot believe Mr. Coffee paid anyone to design this hunk of junk. It is unweildy, light weight and makes awful coffee. LITERALLY the wand doesn't even fit in the milk cup? It is the poorest design.

Followed instructions to clean before use and I did it 7 times and it's still dirty, full of white particles like paint chips. Also leaked from the back even with everything done correctly.

Water leaking out of the bottom of the Espresso or Cappuccino maker could be caused by the drip tray filling up. Check the drip tray and discard liquid that accumulates after every use. Got it for Christmas, works perfectly. The steam wand gets clogged up pretty easy but that’s an easy fix. There’s a little nut at the end of the metal part of the wand, it screws off. Take that nut off and soak it in some warm soapy water. I also used a straw brush to scrub it a little and voila, better than new! I’ve taken to adding little barista finishing touches to my cappuccinos, like little hearts and smilies :). Best coffee I’ve ever made at home. I LOVE it!

Bought this after a coworker recommended it and it works great. So many bad reviews, but I don’t see why. Glad I didn’t listen. It is easy to use and makes great expressos. The froth works wonderfully as well. Definitely need to clean it immediately after each use. Because the froth is made under pressure, similar to a pressure cooker, you want to becareful when opening the top. Release the pressure slowly. No issues here. I think for the price, it’s a great little machine and makes great expressos!

This is a beginner espresso machine for sure. You have to inturup the brew cycle in order to froth your milk which often leaves burnt tasting coffee. I have gone through 2 machine's now which were covered under warrenty. I have taken very good care of both of them and the frother has stopped working (even though I hear the water boiling inside) on both of my machine's. Customer service was easy to work with but my machine has primarily turned into just an espresso maker and I will have to purchase a frother seperately
