Really excited My Little Pony decided to put minis for the pets in this blind bag series! There are very few standalone toy shops locally these days, so Target is the big go-to for toys, but Target doesn't always carry a complete Hasbro My Little Pony selection. Hence, finding these blind bags that include the pets is a huge thing for some of us long time [pets] fans! The little blind bags dissolve in water, hence the "potion" play aspect of revealing the toy. I didn't want the mess, so I just carefully cut the bag open (the bag is sticky if you get it wet and will dissolve and leave some fibers behind in solution). The toys are comparable in size and price to another popular blind packaged product "Hatchimals Colleggtibles" also available at Target; they are essentially My Little Pony minis (mini figures). Some of the figures are repaint/variant, so you might have to hunt/wait a bit if you're trying to get a complete set; the batch from which I purchased in-store locally had 12 of the 24 from the pet inclusive series. The photos on this Target page show another selection of the blind bags; in-store selection will vary. This product would be suitable for collectors who want minis of the pets (again, in-store selection may vary from photo on Target's page which shows one wave of this product that isn't including the pets) and new design minis, or kids (old enough to know not to put small items into their mouths) who enjoy messy, fun reveals. Also, the pets are sculpted as unicorns, a charming nod to the unicorn ponies in the My Little Pony series! (Hasbro, if you're reading, big fan of Angel Bunny, so was thrilled to get my paws on unicorn Angel!)
Disclosure: I am not a parent, I am a collector. That said, I feel like I can more accurately review the toy from the perspective of the parent simply due to being around the toy block for a while. The toys themselves are of a nice quality and I don't notice any pressing issues with the paint or anything. They aren't falling apart, and the mold is cute. They are just ridiculously small for the $2.99 price tag. I understand that toys must be an "experience" now, so there is the option of adding water to the bottle, shaking it around, and revealing the figure that way (they are inside of a soft, blue bag that should dissolve in the water), but I do not think that would justify the price tag either. The blind bags from the past few years are a much better deal, where even if they are of a similar size, there is not the expectation of a product much larger than the one that actually is in the bottle.
Just adding that about half of the figures offered aren't even ponies, they are small creatures such as turtles, cats, etc.
