About this item

Mikki and Antar blame the present crises of modern science on the separation of two major thematic orientations--pure theory and applications--since at least the end of the nineteenth century. They cite a lack of communication between theorists and applied scientists fostered since the end of World War II and the rise of electrical and electronic engineering as the main force behind technological advance. They reexamine the foundations of applied electromagnetics by providing a common abstract substrate unifying the device structure (encoded in geometry) and its performance (encoded in the behavior of the fields generated by the device). They also aim to combine mathematics, physics, and engineering within one consistent discourse, that of the scientific study of the spatial structure of electromagnetic fields in engineering systems. They formulate the problem and provide several investigations, each contributing something toward reaching their major goal. Annotation ©2016 Ringgold, Inc., Portland, OR (protoview.com)
