Q: Are you able to make more than one item at a time? Like can you do french fries, and hamburger at the same time?

submitted by - 2 years ago
  • A: As long as they’re cooking at the same temperature, yes! It comes with a rack and there’s plenty of room below that for the fries.

submitted by - 2 years ago
  • A: You are able to cook more than one item at a time but they would have to be cooked at the same temperature.

Q: Can this be used as an instant pot? I thought air fryers had an instant pot function. Can it dehydrate things like a stir fry? Or only fruits and veggies that are dry?

submitted by Clare - 1 year ago
  • A: The Ninja Air Fryer does not have a pressure cook function. The one you are referring to is the Ninja Foodi Pressure Cooker line which has the Air Crisp feature. Therefore, it can be used as a pressure cooker or air fryer.

Different versions of the AF161

On some sites itvshows a shiny metal plate on the base unit, my first one bought the other day the plate on the base unit was a black metal with a round rough spot towards the back that felt like sandpaper, returned it and picked up another but this one the plate is plastic and part of the whole base unit and not separate. I am wondering how the plastic will hold upmwith the metal basket sliding in and out using it. It seems Ninja did this for cost savings for them as well as eliminating the safety switch for the unit pausing when you slide the basket out to check how contents are cooking Not sure if these new ones are better. Also chatted with customer service who said some are made with the separate attached permanently metal plate and some with the plastic plate which is part of the main unit body. Just a guess but I bet they are using different .manufacturers producing the same model #AF161, what are your thoughts.

Returned mine as there was a real rough spot on the base unit plate that felt like sandpaper. The base also was a black metal. Bought another at different store, first one came packed in styrofoam and instruction manual in plastic bag, new one came packed in stressed cardboard and the base plate in unit is now plastic. Instruction manuals came in envelope. I am wondering are the changes from metal to plastic an advantage or cost savings move. Looking for Ninja to answer.

Missing Recipes and Rack

Ordered this online for store pickup. When I got notified that it was ready was excited to get my first airfryer, and a Ninja of all brands I considered. Well it's missing the wire rack and recipes book, which was very disappointed. Not sure I want to use it now!

My go to cooking appliance

This Ninja air fryer was my best purchase in years. I hardly used my oven or deep fryer anymore. My favorite thing is chicken. No matter what piece it is, it cooks excellent in the air fryer. Wings, drumsticks, you name it. And the side order of fries are just as delicious and crispy. Not to forget my second favorite food. Steak, which comes out cooked perfectly. Well done but juicy and tender in about 8-9 minutes. And everything is much healthier as all the fat drops through the cooking grate and collects below. It knocks out the fat even better than the George Foreman grill. My cholesterol has dropped since I started cooking with the Ninja Air Fryer. It cooks everything and much faster. Just set the cooking mode (bake, broil, air fry & more) set the timer and relax. I was thinking about buying a second one to have if this one ever stops working.

After reading up on air fryers and watching many videos on them I decided to purchase the Ninja. I also have purchased their coffee makers (two) and their slow cooker multi cook (two of them also). I wasn't surprised at the quality as Ninja always comes out on top. It does have an oder the first few times you use it, but it dissipates with use. I give it a 10 on a score of one to ten! You won't be sorry! The only complaint is no broiler basket inside of this unit.

I have had it about 2 weeks. I have cooked French fries, Brussels Sprouts, and fresh fish. So far it's been great. Only one complaint. There should be an automatic pre heat button so you don't have to scroll down from 20 minutes to 3 minutes every time.

I’ve had this air fryer for 6 months and it completely stopped working while my food was cooking. It won’t turn on at all now, and I noticed that’s a common problem in a lot of these reviews. I’m no longer able to return it to the store at this point, so it’s just wasted money now.

I wanted something wider

I bought this less than a month ago. When you first use an air fryer there is a smell to it. Honestly, the first use it had a smell then after that it was fine. It’s taller and slightly wider than my older ninja and it cooks well. I started reading up on air fryers and a chemical they release that can increase our cancer risks but the chemical is also found in chips French fries basically anything cooked at high temperatures. So I will keep using ours. I reheated left over dominos about two slices for 5 minutes using the reheat button and the pizza came out nicely. Also I love to make wings. 10 wings take about 24 minutes to cook we use decent size wings they’re called left wings and they come out good. I like this air fryer and would recommend.

We used this air fryer every other day for the past 3 years, but one day it just quit - power won't turn on. Have read other reviews about this issue. It appears to be one for this product. If more people have this issue maybe Shark/Ninja will find out what's going on with these fryers. Have several Ninja products and they are all very good and reliable.

Three key words: criminal, missing out, lifeChange

Well maybe a few more words than three, but this machine must be a criminal offense because it’s so fantastic that it’s to good to be true and must be CRIMINAL. Anybody that does not have one of these in your kitchen is MISSING OUT, forget about all else, get one of these. Using this is LIFE CHANGING, really, it’s hard to believe but true, find out for yourself the first time you use it. The quality from this manufacturer is top notch, I compared carefully when I was choosing a purchase.
