I really dislike this product. Quite frankly if I still had the packaging I'd return it. Several years ago I had purchased the Ninja blender that came with the individual cups. I loved that thing! Problem was though that my daughter loved it too and when she left home it went with her. I purchased this as a replacement. I don't use a blender and just wanted the smoothie function so thought this would be perfect. It's not. The cups are an awkward size and are hard to handle. They are too wide to hold comfortably in your hand so drinking out of them is impossible. The larger cup also is too tall to fit in the top rack of the dishwasher so it's hand wash only item. I could probably live with these issues but the thing just doesn't blend well either. I'm drinking a smoothie with large chunks of frozen banana right now as I write this review.

We would like to thank you for your review regarding the cups. We are always looking for ways to improve our products. To ensure a smooth blend, we recommend pausing, by letting go of the cup, a few times during the blending process. This allows the ingredients to sink to the blades. We don't use it regularly but it was great when it was working. Suddenly it just stopped working. Tried three outlets, made sure the lids were locked tight and nothing. It's upsetting because like I said earlier it was great.
I bought this to replace my 5 year old NutriBullet after seeing the great reviews and good price ($60), I opted to give it a shot as the more powerful motor (900 watts in Ninja vs 600 in NB) seemed like a good thing. I was wrong. The motor only seems to be good for creating an obscene amount of noise. Plus, it sounds like it's working a lot harder to make my morning smoothie than my old NB. It also doesn't smooth (I guess that's the term) as well as my old NB. I make the same smoothie every morning and the NB never left chunks, but I've always got a chunk or two with the Ninja. I think this has to do with the cup. Both use 24oz cups, the the Ninja's is taller and narrower - and so is the blade setup on the cover - and I think this impacts all ingredients making their way to the bottom efficiently.
The quality seems good - tabs the cup pushes down to activate motor are much more sturdy than those on the NB (plus the Ninja has 4 tabs to NB's 3). Cups and covers, including blending cover, are also nicer quality. But the increased noise and decreased performance make this a hard product to recommend. It's not awful, so that's why I gave it three and not one or two stars. It's just a baby's hair above average.
I LOVE this machine!! I bought the smaller one and burnt it out in 10 days. This one pulverizes anything i put in it including kale. By far the best machine for new and experienced smoothie makers.. I highly recommend for anybody making smoothis in the morning. Im done and cleaned up in 3 mins
I love it. I use it to blended fruits, panda leaves to bake desserts, etc.. Since consistency came out very smooth so my family didn't know what I put in them. I snick in spinach, carrots, broccoli...and they didn't even know. =) I owned the large version of the Ninja. It is good for breaking down the large vegetable but it still taste fibery or clumby. That is why I used it to grind down the carrots, broccoli, frozen fruits, etc. then I put in this to make the final smoothy. It's faster this way and taste better too.
