A: Our products do not contain gluten. But read on, because if you're asking this question, there's more you should know. *cue ‘90's music from NBC* We don't actively market our products as gluten-free, primarily because we believe this can be confusing. There are a number of myths surrounding the impact of gluten in personal care vs. food. According to the Mayo Clinic, shampoos and conditioners that contain gluten would need to be swallowed or come into contact with an open wound for someone with Celiac disease to react. This is even true for different types of dermatitis that can arise from Celiac, but still it is required that the gluten be ingested vs. topically applied (with the exception of things like lipstick where you'd easily ingest product or application on or near a wound). So if you're gluten-intolerant or have Celiac disease, it's worth talking to your allergist or doctor about your personal care needs. You may not be as limited as you think!

A little of the shampoo goes a long way, but I've used this three times now, and my ends are breaking off. It's very irritating. I bought it because it's vegan and it has no chemical fragrance. But something else is so harsh in there. After the first time I thought maybe I didn't rinse it out well enough so I made sure I rinsed well and it's just very irritating. It's also somewhat leaving a sticky residue. My neck is itchy my shoulders are itchy, and my hair is very dry now. It's breaking off my hair. I would not recommend this to anyone. It's a hair shredder.

We all have different hair types and water quality. With my super hard water and my curly hair, I find this to be super drying, so much so my scalp itches for days after using. What I do love is that it’s truly fragrance free with no lingering smell. It works well with sudsing and such, unlike most of the all natural shampoos I use. At the end of the day I’m not sure I’m going to keep using but glad there’s a brand that cares about us fragrance and chemical sensitive folks!

I've always struggled with a dry itchy scalp and as of recently I've been struggling to find a shampoo that's not so strong on the fragrance either. My sister recommended Odele and I'll never use another shampoo besides this one ever again. Finally I have RELIEF and can go to bed without ripping my scalp apart from scratching to much and I love how cost effective it is for how much it offers. I'd recommend to anyone honestly; I've been trying to get my mother to make the switch because of her eczema but we'll get there she's a creature of habit.
Never going back to any other shampoos.

As someone who has fairly sensitive skin, this product works the best out of any unscented shampoo I have tried. Unlike some natural products which I found didn't clean my hair well and left me greasy and oily a few hours, this shampoo cleans without stripping. Follow up with the conditioner, and my hair is soft and ready to go!

This is the best shampoo and conditioner for my long, curly hair. The product is fragrance-free, which I need, but it smells pleasant, without any medicinal odour. My hair is generally dry, but these products moisturize well, so my hair isn't staticky or frizzy. I just wish the company still shipped to Canada.

I've been bouncing around shampoos and conditioners for a while, trying to find something that doesn't irritate my scalp and also doesn't weigh my somewhat fine, straight, "normal" hair down. I'm also recovering from using a thickening shampoo (NOT Odele's) that made my hair fall out in clumps so I was worried to see how my hair would do with something new. I've used the Odele volumizing shampoo before but it made my hair a little dry. I use the clarifying shampoo once a week to get rid of the dry shampoo residue. And now I use the sensitive skin shampoo the rest of the time, followed up by the smoothing conditioner. It works like a charm and no more fallout or itchiness! A little goes a long way, I have hair to my mid back and I only use about a quarter size amount of the shampoo. I lather it in my hands and then apply at the roots thoroughly before working the lather down. Rinse, then I saturate the ends and mids in conditioner and let it sit while I wash my face. My hair has never been happier, shinier, and healthier!

I first bought this shampoo in September 2023. The product was white, lathered well (a little went a long way), and didn’t smell like much. I repurchased in November 2024 and everything is different now. The shampoo is now clear, I need to use a lot of it, it smells strongly of chemical fragrance, and it’s making my hair greasy + fall out. I’m really disappointed in this formula change and the lack of information about the change.

Unscented but makes hair break off

The positives: Unscented and doesn't give me a rash. The negatives: has the consistency of glue and difficult to lather and rinse. But I could live with that. The. really bad thing is that either this shampoo or its corresponding conditioner makes my hair break off/fall out in clumps. Every time I wash my. hair with these products I end up with a handful of hair that ends up in my drain. It is unfortunate that there are so few unscented products on the market that I am forced to keep using this one. When I switch to other products my hair doesn't fall out, but I get a headche from the scent, or a rash from some other ingredient. It really is a shame that companies do not make more unscented products that do not also contain other allergens.

I had been searching (and searching) and experimenting (and experimenting) to the point where I was spent in continuing to find the right product for eliminating itchy scalp from no-no ingredients found in most shampoos/conditioners. On a whim, I purchased both the Ultra Sensitive Shampoo and Conditioner not even knowing anything about this brand. I couldn't wait to try it out (always hopeful!). From the moment the shampoo hit my hand it was an "OMG, this is so unbelievably rich, thick and silky feeling". The shampoo lathered up beautifully and generously; in fact, more so than any other shampoo (including crazy expensive ones!). I was so impressed and pleased. Of course, I followed up with the complimenting conditioner (amazing as well) and blow-dried as usual. That is when I noticed how incredibly soft and silky my hair felt. What an amazing product.

I liked the sensitive conditioner a lot so figured I'd try the shampoo. I previously tried the volume shampoo & loved it, but it gave me painful contact dermatitis on my ears. Well this sensitive shampoo is hands down the worst hair product I've ever used. I am used to non-toxic beauty products and understand that most "clean/natural" shampoo doesn't have a ton of lather. This was on another level. It literally felt like glue or something in my hands. Using water & rubbing my hands together did not help. It was not easy at all to get through my hair. After washing it out, my hair felt like straw.

Love the shampoo, it’s thick and creamy and my sensitive scalp loves it. The bottle is SO hard to squeeze. It’s such a pain and would not accessible if I had difficulty squeezing or lacked strength when squeezing. It’s my first thought before repurchasing.

I have acne prone skin that’s very sensitive. I also have very long thick hair I’m trying to keep healthy. So it’s not easy finding a combo that works for me and my daughter as she is in a similar boat. I agree with some reviews saying it has a thick glue like consistency and smell. But I think it’s a little dramatic to not keep with it because of those reasons. It does still lather and clean the scalp if you just get in there and scrub with your fingertips and use water to dilute the consistency and as far as the smell goes I understand going from tresemme to this is a little bit of a shock but that’s kind of the whole point. They aren’t covering up the products doing the work with a perfume and that’s ok with me. I just look forward to spritzing the leave in conditioner in or using my body wash and perfume for my smell and move on with life. It’s nice not having hairline breakouts and I hope that keeps up. I also like that I don’t have to worry about the products in my hair rubbing against my cheeks while I sleep or sitting against my face during the day. I would just ignore the negative reviews because I think this was mostly for desperate acne prone people like myself. And I like it.

Odele products are free from SLES + SLS sulfates, and as a result our Shampoo may not lather in the same way you are used to. For the best results, ensure that the shampoo is worked into a generous lather by first soaking your hair, and then working the shampoo in your palms, adding water as needed, to activate the lather. Give this a try and see if this helps get a deeper clean.
