Peanut butter and jelly. Salt and pepper. Some things are just meant to be! The Twin Grinder from Olde Thompson knows this and has them both in one mill for ultimate convenience. The crystal-clear acrylic body lets you take stock of your supply, while the stainless steel top turns in one direction for pepper, and the opposite for salt. Kind of ingenious, don't you think?
The grinder works well and the coarseness adjuster does actually change the coarseness of the grind, compared to other grinders I have tried in which the adjuster does nothing. My only complaint is that there is some leakage of salt/pepper from the bottom, so while dispensing pepper you'll get a little bit of salt and vice versa.
Purchased this grinder to replace a different salt/pepper combo grinder. The old one had salt at one end and pepper at the other so you would flip it over to change from salt to pepper. Two problems. 1) the little end caps just would not stay on so there would always be a little pile of salt or pepper under it when you set it on the counter. 2) straight up and down cylindrical shape got tipped over all the time. I researched what was available and had no confidence in most of what I saw, so I chose this Olde Thompson twin grinder. It doesn't have an end cap (cover), but, as it turns out, for some reason stays much cleaner than the old one we had. Secondly, the shape of this one is makes it much more stable sitting on the counter. It also seems to be a generally better quality than our old one and we find it easier to use, You turn the grinder counter clockwise for salt and clockwise for pepper. No flipping it over end to end like the old one. So..in comparison, we are quite happy with this grinder after two weeks.
