The classic books on a timeless subject -- for a new generation.

In 1975, Alona Frankel wrote and illustrated her first book, especially for her son Michael, on how to use the potty. Thirty-two years later, Once Upon a Potty -- Boy and Once Upon a Potty -- Girl are the classic books on potty training and have sold more than four million copies worldwide. These children's books help parents everywhere deal successfully with an often vexing challenge for the whole family.

Thanks to their timeless words and beloved images, Once Upon a Potty -- Boy and Once Upon a Potty -- Girl are being discovered and used by a new generation of parents. These two books, with their phenomenal staying power, target and meet the needs of an obviously perpetual market.

We have this book in Hebrew (original language written in) and English for both boys and girls. My husband was potty trained with this book, as was our son. Our daughter is only 19 mths. While the potty may look dated, it is an honest and frank book that kids can relate to. The story does sound a bit better in Hebrew, but the book does the job in any language.

This book is totally outdated - the "potty" looks like an old-fashioned chamber pot, it would be hard for any child to make the correlation between a modern toilet and the picture from the book. Also, they show the little girl putting the potty on her head - "Is it a hat?" - not really something you want your child doing with her actual potty. Not the book I'd choose for potty-training, there are far better books out there with less abstract pictures.
