Description

Open the Joy’s Anger Management Toolkit helps children deal with strong emotions through exploration and play. The difficult concept of anger is broken down into easy steps, each paired with a worksheet or activity!

Step 1 Get to know your Angry Feelings: Children learn to identify different forms of anger (i.e jealousy, frustration, irritation) with guided questions, a coloring activity and writing prompts.

Step 2 Get to know your Body: Children become detectives and discover their body’s clues when an angry outburst is on the way!

Step 3 Get to know your Actions: Children reflect on how they behave when angry, and draw their own “Angry Monster” to personify the emotional reaction.

Step 4 Make your “Angry Monster”: Children use clay to make their very own “Angry Monster” unique and separate from themselves.

Step 5 Control the “Angry Monster”: Children are provided with calming strategies to help when the “Angry Monster” gets out of hand!

Learning self-regulation is an essential part of a child’s emotional and mental development. The Anger Management Toolkit teaches therapeutic techniques in a manner that is easy to understand, implement and practice.

KIT INCLUDES: 3 Tubs of Air Dry Putty (20gms/3 Colors), 3 Character Cut-Outs to Color, 5 Self-Regulation Worksheets, 2 Clay Instruction Sheets, 1 Guide for Grownups.

Q: What is the difference between the toolkit and the full box? would the toolkit be a good addon for a second child?

submitted by Sades - 3 days ago
  • A: Thanks for the question! The Anger Management Box is a more comprehensive pack of tools packed in a convenient carrying case. These tools include: Large Mission Cards, DIY Wooden Catapult, Tubs of Clay, Origami Paper, Bad Mood Buster Notepad Checklist and a Deck of Anger Management Cards. The Toolkit is a more condensed version of the box containing: Air Dry Clay, Character Cut-Outs to Color and Self-Regulation Worksheets. The Toolkit would be a nice addition with similar tools for another child to explore. - Joy Expert!

Helps so far with constant tantrums! My son also made a cardboard house for the clay monster and we "blow him back" into his house when we feel monster angry. Great idea!

I have two kids, both obviously get angry. But one really struggles putting a word to his feelings. This was such a great way to get him to talk about anger while his hands were busy and we were able to talk through his other emotions that he experiences from time to time. I’m super impressed and will be thinking about getting the other activities for other emotions.

Although the kit is mainly for anger, I found that the activity translates really well to the other emotions! We've done the project 2 more times now for nervous and sad, and it has been a wonderful tool for getting my kids to connect with their feelings and understand the power they have to calm themselves down.

I thought this was just going to be instructions for making a clay monster, but it came with a bunch of activity sheets to write/draw on and teaches you a lot about angry feelings.

I got this for my nephew, who has been trouble adjusting to some big family changes. My sister did the activity with him a couple of times and he's really been feeling better since talking through everything and understanding that it was OK that he was feeling so angry and upset, and that there were better ways to deal with the emotions.

This kit walks kids through how to visualize and detach themselves from their anger in a super simple and fun way. Make sure you have a good chunk of time to sit down and do it - or do it in two parts. But the time is worth it! My kids are way more aware of when they are starting to lose their temper now

This is my second open the joy clay project and I nearly forgot how much I loved it! We are pretty anti-slime in my hose because I can't stand the sticky mess, but this clay is super mess-free. It doesn't smell, stick, or fall into little sticky pieces. Plus it dries really nicely. My kids made a bunch of charecters with the last clay project and they are all still in one piece.

I love the idea of making little angry monsters. It is so important that kids understand that just because they get "angry" or do "bad things" it doesn make them an angry/bad kid. I wish there was something like this when I was younger!

These flatpacks have some really great information in them. I've been to therapy for years and a lot of this stuff feels like it is straight out of a session but made way more fun and simple. I think this would be a great resource for al kids to use, not just ones struggling with anger issues, since a lot of the techniques could be applied to any big emotion
