Summary of reviews
This coconut milk has received mixed feedback from guests, with many expressing disappointment in its flavor and texture. While some appreciate its creaminess and versatility in recipes, others find it overly thick and artificial tasting, making it unsuitable for savory dishes. Guests have noted that it works well in desserts and smoothies, but caution is advised for those seeking authentic coconut flavor. Overall, it may be a good option for specific uses but not for traditional coconut milk applications.

Disgusting. Ruined my recipe. Doesn't taste at all like coconut milk. Smells and taste like burnt plastic.

This canned coconut milk is one of the best I’ve found and surely the best value. Goya and other brands have such chalky and lumpy canned coconut milk—this one is nice and smooth and thick. My go to for baking and cooking these days.

Easily the worst coconut milk I’ve ever tasted. What even is this stuff?! No coconut flavor, and it just tastes… odd. And wrong. And awful. So awful that after opening a second can just to see if the first was an anomaly, I ended up pouring both cans down the drain. It’s really disappointing because most G&G products I’ve tried have been great. Don’t waste your money.

I bought this a couple months ago and thought I had a bad batch. Opened two cans and both smelled awful, and tasted worse. It was summer so I thought maybe something happened in shipping. No. I purchased this today and opened the can. Same awful smell and taste. There are only two ingredients on the label. How is the flavor so revolting?? Zero stars.

Please don’t buy this so Target will stop selling this garbage. If I was able to I would’ve given this a zero but I had to choose 1 star to be able to write this review to save you from ruining a great recipe. I can’t quite identify the taste but I can tell you it tastes absolutely nothing like coconut milk. Disappointing is not the best word to describe this. I was more shocked to find that it tastes nothing like coconut milk and very confused as to how they arrived at such a horrible outcome for this product. I’m also shocked that it’s still on the shelves. Another shocker was that it looked more like a can of ceiling white paint upon opening. Could that be what happened? It was a mix up at the paint factory? Was there no quality control crew on this? If there was they all need to be fired. I feel very bad for people who have never had coconut milk and proceed to buy this because it gives coconut milk a very bad name. It’s just plain awful and I’m sorry if you were a victim of this as well.

Why would organic coconut milk come in a can that’s not BPA (Bisphenol A) free? What’s the point of organic when the BPA is so toxic. We searched this product over and over and there is no label stating BPA free. Shame on you Target.

I usually purchase the Taste of Thai brand but I was in Target so I bought this one. Upon opening it, it had a very artificially nutty but sweet smell. I was confused because I thought it was unsweetened but upon further inspection, it just wasn’t good lol. The smell is very off-putting and hard to counteract with seasoning in cooking so I had to throw it out. Sticking with my og brand!

I just spent $6 per can at Ralph’s. Such a good price at Target! I don’t know why I didn’t come to Target today.

This coconut milk tastes odd—nothing like regular coconut milk. It has a strange plastic-like flavor. Horrible. Never buying it again.

I think many of the bad reviews is because some people don't know the difference between canned and carton unsweetened coconut milk. The main difference between canned and carton coconut milk are their texture and fat content. I used this canned version in my Carribean Rice and Beans. It turned out wonderful! Canned vs. Carton Coconut Milk: What’s the Difference? Coconut milk is a popular choice as a non-dairy milk alternative and comes in several varieties, including canned and carton. The main difference between canned and carton coconut milk are their texture and fat content. Canned coconut milk is very high in fat and low in liquid, and carton coconut milk is essentially canned coconut milk diluted with water to make it thin and drinkable. Carton coconut milk is most often used as a non-dairy milk alternative for drinking, whereas canned coconut milk is typically used in rich, creamy recipes. Carton coconut milk often has thickeners added to make it creamy and less watery in texture, such as guar gum, xanthan gum, and carrageenan. These thickeners are gluten-free.

Weird smell and taste. Was using it for a red Thai curry and it smells very almond like or vanilla. There were also strands of something in the milk (coconut??). Ended up throwing my dinner out. What a waste and very frustrating!

I like that it has a good texture, but I don’t like the strong taste it has. I feel like it was heated at temperatures too high & it affected the taste.
