Q: Does this 16 speed Oster have the "GRIND' and the "LIQUIFY" functions as shown in picture? Many a times it is shown in the picture as having the 2 functions but comes without them on purchasing it

I have own this Oster 6812 16 speed with Brushed Nickel Finish blender for years now. But for some reason I can't get the Bottom of the blender to come off for cleaning it won't budge and I've tried everything I can think of. Can someone help me? Please. You can't even find a video on how to dissemble or how to assemble the machine. Nothing!! Help me please.

Base Removeable?

When I purchased the blender I had assumed that the base did not come off which made me wonder how I was going to effectively clean it since I had initially tried to remove it. No matter how hard I turned, it would not budge. I just went online, and of course like all blenders, the base and blade do come off. Easily? No! I have been struggling for about 30 minutes. There is no way to get an effective grip. The outer part of the base just spins in place, but there is no way to get the base off. Going to just have to throw it out and buy a different brand.

We got this as a wedding gift and were so excited to use it! The very first time we tried to use it we made smoothies and it was going great! It blended really well and was really quiet, but as soon as we stopped blending the blender started smoking and smelling like something was burning. Needless to say we are very upset about it. Hopefully its a fluke?

As far as I can remember growing up my grandma, mom and aunts all used the Oster blender. And now the traditions continues and this is my second blender and I love my16 speed blender. But I recently noticed that the blade while using the blender was kind of skipping (the best I can describe it) and when I checked I noticed the black plastic base of the jar was cracked (broken) and I was so disappointed and upset especially when I tried to find it in stores as they no longer carry the 16 speed blender. This blender is a necessity in our home and in our culture for making our sofrito and of course other things. Please Help!!!! Also I can use and need a lid replacement too!!! HELP

My previous Oster freezer safe blender I had for just about 5-6 years when my kid sister broke it. It killed me. I got this as a replacement. Let me tell you, although I don't use this everyday, I am very satisfied with it. When I use it, I would use it in one day, for maybe 6 hours at a time! (Giving the motor a rest every thirty minutes to an hour.) Working with appliances pretty much all my life, I learned to get proper use and longevity from them requires care and maintenance. So one can imagine my disappointment, and heartbreak when I used my blender yesterday and noticed the jar base is cracked! And it still looks brand new, and unused. I don't trust compatible parts. They may or may not work. :( I would definitely recommend this to anyone. Too bad I didn't know this came with a 10 year warranty, and a 3 year guarantee. Thank you Oster, for 11 years!

Oster Precision Blend 300??? Quit working???

I absolutely love Oster products! I had purchased a pair of personal Oster smoothie makers a few years back, and I use them religiously! I was excited when I received this new Oster blender as a gift. I took my blender out of the packaging, added my ingredients (according to the instructions) and after a couple of seconds of blending, my brand new blender began to smoke and immediately shut off! I waited a few days and tried it again, but that was no use! It still would not turn on! Is there a problem with full-size Oster blenders? While this blender says it can be used for mixed drinks, salsa, etc., I'm not even putting anything hard, like ice, in it! This is really frustrating, especially when I'm trying to incorporate blended/pureed ingredients into my meals. It's also quite disappointing, as I've always put such faith in the quality of Oster products.

The glass blender container is quite heavy without anything in it, plus, I don't want the blade to unscrew and have to wash and wait for the rubber gasket to dry before re-assembling after each use. So I went to a less expensive model with a plastic container that I can just wash out and dry in my dishdrainer.

I used the previous version of this blender for more years than I can remember, so when it came time to replace it buying this model was a no-brainer. Works just as well and looks great.
