Q: Is this tray food safe?
A: Directions says spot or wipe clean. This is due to the materials of Mango wood. Since it is wooden it is not suitable to submerged in water. Just wipe clean well with food grade cleaner!
submitted by5darlings - 4 years agoA: I just purchased this today. There is a stick on the back that says, "FOOD SAFE." It's made of mango wood. As with all woods, you never really want to submerge wash items so that it doesn't damage it.

Q: It feels dry, should I use some type of oil to condition it? If so what kind? I haven't used it yet.
A: Hi Deb – We appreciate your interest in the carved wood tray. Due to the properties of mango wood, there is no conditioning recommendations. As with all woods, you never really want to submerge wash items so that it doesn't damage it. Just wipe clean well with food grade cleaner! Thanks for asking. - Jesse

submitted byTombraider98 - 4 months agoA: I would imagine you can use food safe Wood Oil (label says for wooden cutting boards, butcher blocks, wooden bowls) which I've used on wooden cutting boards. I plan on using the wood oil on my tray.

Q: Can I keep this outside on our covered balcony? We live in south FL so it will be humid but not rained on.
A: Hi Annie81 - Thanks for asking! All wood naturally expands and contracts with moisture levels, however this tray is not designed to be outdoors over extended use. We hope this helps! - Jerith
submitted byJerith - 4 years agoTarget staff supportA: I would not do this. With the rain and humidity it can get moldy. I had this happen to me with a wooden lazy Susan. Big mistake leaving it outside even when not directly rained on. Especially in Florida.

Q: Could I stain this to make it a darker color?

While this tray is indeed comprised of 100% wood making it ideal for staining or painting, you'd likely have to sand-off the topcoat finish that gives it it's current brown shine to do so. We do love a DIY, but we also love how it currently looks -- don't you? Either way, enjoy!
