Q: Seems like this would be like strapping a cell phone to their head for the entire night. What long-term effects might this have on a newborn? How was this tested for L-T affects on babies?

A: Hello, We are appreciate you reaching out to Owlet. We are always happy to help. This would not have any long term effects on baby, as we are under the FCC recommended measures. The industry standard measurement for "radio wave absorption" is known as specific absorption rate (SAR) and is measured in watts per kilogram of flesh (W/Kg). The maximum safe SAR level set by the FCC for transmitters on an appendage is 4.0 W/Kg. The Owlet Dream Sock measures were so low that the FCC does not require a SAR evaluation. Owlet is in compliance with FCC standards of safety for SAR. SAR is a measure of the rate of energy absorption due to exposure to an RF transmitting source. A: Thanks for reaching out. No, the Owlet Cam does not move around to monitor a toddler. However, the Owlet Cam has an adjustable magnetic base so you can manually adjust to get the perfect angle. A: Hi Sabrina, Thanks for reaching out. The Owlet Cam does not have any recording capabilities. When sound and motion notifications are enabled, the Cam only identifies when sound or motion is detected and sends a notification to the associated devices. We are not recording or storing any video or audio streams on the device or in the cloud.

A: If you don't have WiFi in your home, or if your WiFi connection goes down, the Owlet Baby Monitor is designed to still function. The Base Station communicates with the Smart Sock via Bluetooth. Bluetooth has an optimal range of up to 100 feet direct line of sight. This range can be greatly reduced when going through walls or if blocked by objects, particularly if they are metal, other electronics, or the human body.

Issues galore. The sock gave us anxiety with false errors so we don't even use that. The camera is ok quality wise but the sound just cuts out all the time and then I realise I can't hear baby notifications are too sensitive and pick up any noise even when adjusted. If someone calls you can't hear bubs definitely recommend getting an actual monitor. Also noticed a lot of feedback here say ppl have issues with customer service hotline and customer service have just replied call the hotline. Umm hello why would you? Hugely disappointed mum.

So disappointed with how expensive this monitor is and how unreliable it is. At least once a week this issue comes up and won’t fix itself unless you unplug the unit from power which is really handy when you’re wanting to see bubs because she’s sleeping so can’t just walk in and unplug it. Don’t waste your money on such an expensive monitor that is subpar

The stupid camera NEVER connects, and when it does it just freezes. What the heck is the point of this product? I contacted customer support and they “help” was that my internet is having issues - nothing else was having issues connecting. We’ve had nothing but problems with our owlet camera. I will NEVER buy another product again. How am I supposed to have a piece of mind when I cannot see my child - I just get a frozen image?

I don’t understand all the bad reviews here, this camera is literally the best out there. Easy to set up, can view from anywhere with just your phone or tablet, clear videos, night vision, can talk back, etc… I have two different ones one with the socks and one without and I love them both.

I’ve had this thing for 2 years based on the fact that I can’t afford to buy a different one. I’ve had buyers remorse for those two years. It has a clear picture when it works but it runs on wifi so that means it will NEVER be as reliable as you need it to be. It doesn’t matter how great your wifi is either, a lot of the time it just chooses not to work.

i had the owlet smart sock two for my first child in 2017 and used it until he was 13-14 months old or so. I absolutely loved this product so much. it was incredible. fast forward to 2022 when we had my daughter…my one star review is for the Owlet camera that i purchased with the Owlet Dream Sock once i realized the smart sock was no longer on the market in the US. It constantly says “camera offline”. The camera has such a lag that it will show my baby sleeping still when she is awake. the wifi strength in my house is perfect so that is not the problem. I tried resetting it. i tried switching camera to low definition thinking maybe high def was causing the lag. nope. I am selling this on marketplace and purchasing a nanit. my sister is obsessed with her nanit. it’s a shame because their smart sock was my favorite baby product i’ve ever bought. i wish their camera met that same standard. i really wanted to love my owlet cam :(

I have been using this baby monitor for about a year as it was given to me as a gift, and it has caused me nothing but stress. For one, every time I open the app, it takes an EXCESSIVE amount of time to load the video screen. And this doesn't happen just every once in a while, it happens almost every time I open the app to check on my daughter. I have good wifi in my house, so I know this is not the issue. I have had to re connect the video monitor way too many times. And when I do finally get the screen to load, it goes back to reconnecting after just a few minutes, or it will lag and freeze and then have to reconnect. Again, this happens almost every time. In the time it takes to load the main video screen, I could have just went and checked on my daughter myself. This monitor has caused me so much stress and frustration. For the price of this monitor I would expect it to work so much better. I would not recommend this monitor!!!!
