submitted byOXO Customer Service - 4 years agoBrand expertA: I would never use a burr grinder for spices, nuts or anything but coffee. The burrs will get clogged with all the oils from the nuts and the bits from the seeds. Stick with a blade grinder for spices.

Q: Is it good for coarse grind for cold brew?
A: Yes! I just brought mine home today. I use mid-coarse for pour over, but tried the super coarse and it's pefect and uniform. Nice machine!

Q: How long do the beans stay fresh if they stay in the upper container?
A: Hello! Unfortunately, we do not have a set time frame on how long coffee beans will stay fresh inside of the hopper on our Conical Burr Grinder. There are several factors that can affect the length of freshness for the coffee beans.

Q: Can someone tell me how many seconds I need to grind beans for 12 cups of coffee at setting 9? We drink 12 cups of coffee and I only got six cups out of 20 seconds at setting 8. The settings only go up to 30 seconds.
A: Thanks for your question! The number of seconds needed for 12 cups can depend on several factors including how strong you like your coffee, type of roast, etc. If 20 seconds provided half the amount that you need, we would recommend doubling the amount of time. Since the machine only goes up to 30 seconds, you can one 30 second cycle and one 10 second cycle to get the amount needed. I hope this information is helpful!

Q: Does the ground coffee come out of the container easily?
A: Hello! Our Conical Burr Grinder has a stainless steel grounds container to help reduce static. It is also recommended to use a coffee scoop to scoop out the right amount of grounds for your brew.

Q: Can this grinder run on 220v for use in the EU?
A: We currently do not have any OXO kitchen electrics that are compatible with voltages in international markets – the documentation included in the packaging of the product states that the warranty is void if the product is used outside of the US and Canada. We do not recommend using this product outside of the US and Canada, nor do we recommend using the product with any type of converter or adaptor. We also do not recommend using a transformer.

Q: What’s the cup capacity of beans that will grind at one time
A: The grinder grinds for 30 second increments and output volume depends on grind size. For maximum freshness, we recommend grinding for immediate use.

Q: Two questions: (1) Is it easy to clean? (2) Are there removable parts that can be put in dishwasher?
A: Hello! Our Conical Burr Coffee Grinder has step by step cleaning instructions located in the manual to help with easy cleaning and maintenance. There are a few removeable parts to this item. However, they are not dishwasher safe and should be handwashed. The manual also includes the cleaning and care instructions for these type of parts. I hope this information is helpful!
