Q: Thinking aboutgetting this litter! We have 4 cats! How long would it last and is it good for multiple cat homes? We also have a litter robot 4 do it would work well in it?

submitted by JessicaF - 1 year ago
  • A: It works very well in the litter robot 4!! It's what I use for my robot. Just make sure you're changing the drawer bag often or else it can create too much moisture and ruin the robot.

submitted bydarian - 1 year ago
  • A: I think it depends on the size of your litter boxes. I have 2 large-ish boxes for 2 cats, and I go through 3 bags/month: 1 bag/box initially, then the third bag to replenish what gets scooped out.

    submitted byRN93 - 1 year ago
  • A: Do NOT use this in litter robots. The clumping agent does not work in the manner needed for automatic cleaning.

submitted byKat - 1 month ago

Q: For one small cat does this size work for 30 days before putting in more litter? In other words with twice a day cleaning, how long does the litter last before you have to change whole pan?

submitted by Jac - 2 years ago
  • A: It does not last a month. I use 2 bags a month for one 10 pound cat. It gets expensive.

submitted bybenjsinger - 1 year ago
  • A: Paco & Pepper website states 1 bag typically lasts a month or 30 days for one cat.

Q: Does or can olivie nut litter be suseptible to mold and pests? Also, no or very low dust and no tracking is important; how does your product hold up to these concerns? thank you. Cheri

submitted by Cherbear - 9 months ago
  • A: We buy 6 bags at a time and have no issue with mold. We keep extra in our garage so if it was remotely tasty to mice, they would have eaten it by now. It's no dust and tracking is very very minimal compared to alternatives.

submitted byRiz - 1 month ago

Q: Can I use this littler for kittens?

submitted by Rojas - 1 year ago
  • A: Kittens shouldn't have clumping litter for their first year. Paper crumbles or other non-clumping litter should be used until they reach 1 year old

Q: Does this litter work with Litter Robot?

submitted by Margaret - 1 year ago
  • A: works great with the litter robot. I’d recommend 7-15 minute clump time.

submitted byJankman - 11 months ago

Q: Does it work with the litter robots?

submitted by Janne - 1 year ago
  • A: Yes. I have a 3, and it works perfectly. I use the 15 minute cycle. I use about 2 bags a month for our 20Lb Cat.

submitted byJankman - 11 months ago

Q: can this producted me flushed?

submitted by jc - 1 year ago
  • A: Stop flushing cat litter even if it says it is safe, because it very much is NOT SAFE.

Great dust free litter

I like this litter because it is the least amount of dust from any litter I’ve ever used. I like that it’s a natural substance too.

OBSESSED

I’m obsessed with this litter. By far the best I’ve ever used. ZERO dust. ZERO tracking. ZERO smells. I love it. It clumps like a freaking dream. Does NOT work in litter robots, so don’t try it.

Not worth it

Great in theory but it creates a super gross film all around the box that no cleaner can get off. The only thing that somewhat works is a strong enzyme cleaner but it takes atleast twenty minutes to scrub it off . I reached out to the brand asking if they had a cleaner they could recommend or if they were making one of their own and they said "don't know what to tell you" . I wish I could recommend it but I can't. Over time the olive oil in it also has started to ruin the carpet in the rooms these boxes are in.

DO NOT BUY

**DO NOT BUY, LITTER DOES NOT CLUMP AND STICKS TO BOTTOM OF LITTER ROBOT** I purchase this litter as a replacement for my Dr. Elsey Ultra litter in hopes of eliminating sand dust completely. I just pressure washed my litter robot and began using this litter and the litter is not clumping effectively. It completely sticks to bottom of litter box and becomes gooey. Paco & Pepper company is completely FLASE ADVERTISING, save your money.

Had High Hopes

I really wanted to love this litter since it’s marketed as a natural, low-dust solution—but it was a total letdown. In the Litter-Robot, it created sticky spots wherever my cats urinated. These clumps never made it to the waste drawer and instead stayed in the basin. My cats ended up walking through the mess, leaving their paws matted with sticky litter and urine. The odor control is also awful—it started smelling bad on day one. Because it doesn’t absorb quickly, it tracks all over the house. Unfortunately, this product needs a major reformulation. Back to the drawing board.

Great Marketing, Doesnt Live Up to Expectations

Great in theory, love the all natural and dust free qualities. The litter however pools liquid often without clumping. It does a poor job of odor control due to the accident sitting on top of the olive seeds. It struggled in our litter box despite advertising that it was a great option for a little robot. It’s still tracks out of the box and in clumps that are very hard to walk on if the litter boxes is in a place humans often are sharing a space with. I really wanted to like this litter and was all about the things that it advertised. I was very excited to try it, but I bought two bags and struggled to finish the one before returning the other.

I've spent hundreds on this litter AMA!

A hard line for me when it comes to litter is NO DUST. After using clay for twenty years and having the dust in every nook and cranny, I was finished. I’ll deal with tracking as long as there’s no dust. This litter fits that bill. Its clumping power is mediocre compared to clay but it clumps well enough. You also have to sift more because it’s easy to miss the clumps when the cat buries it properly. I love this litter and will continue to pay the exorbitant cost for it. That being said, I’ve got some warnings: when starting this litter for 2 cats you need 3 bags minimum, 4 to be comfortable since you can’t go to the store and pick some up in a pinch. These bags are small and while the company claims it’s because you don’t need a lot, you do. Secondly, if you have a cat with digestive issues (loose stool), this litter is not for you. I rescued two cats off the street so figuring out what food worked for them resulted in some upset tummies which resulted in horrible smelling boxes. In fact, one cat’s BMs were so smelly that it tainted every granule of litter and I had to throw it all out. I had just replaced the full box only 3 weeks earlier so I was not happy. There is also little clumping power against pudding-type deposits which left me cleaning the smears off the scoop. Another note: if you’re like me and clean the box throughout the day, you cannot scoop right after the cat goes because it doesn’t clump immediately. You have to wait at least 20 minutes otherwise it’s a mess. While all of this sounds deal breaking, now that we’ve found a happy place with food and tummies, the litter is working very well. Other good points: Clumps don’t adhere to the box like cement and the litter is softer and conditions the cat’s paw pads. One of the gutter cats had cracks and callouses on every pad but after 20 days, they were soft & pink like a new born kitten. I haven’t experienced oily paw prints but my house is mostly carpeted. This litter tracks but not any more than clay and if you use a litter mat, the granules are easily caught. There is little to no scent to this litter, maybe faintly of cedar or wood and there’s no new scent created once urine hits it. 3 bags come in a case so you’ll get the litter in a sealed P&P box so fyi when ordering other products.

Sigh

Super sad this didn’t work after seeing good reviews. Still tracks pretty badly and would get stuck in their fur, turning it orange.

Worst litter ive ever bought.

I have a automatic litter box. The paco and pepper website say it’s great for an automatic litter box. NO IT IS NOT . It does not clump hard fast enough and the poo’s don’t get covered/coated in the litter so it stinks for way too long. The cheapest litter target has is better than this awful litter.

No Dust!

No dust! This litter is quite trackable, but there is literally no dust, which is FANTASTIC, in my opinion. The price is not bad either, as I can make 1 bag last a whole month.

Dust free is great!

There is virtually no dust with this litter which has been my objective. Two things about the texture of the litter are important. Cats still track bits all over. The bits are like small sharp rocks so if you are inclined to walk around the house bare footed you will find these bits. Secondly, it is sometimes difficult to find poops and urine as the coloration of the litter is darker than other litter. You will need to dredge more to find and clean this litter. Those two items do not deter my appreciation for a dust free litter.

Thought I'd found my litter...I didn't.

Started out loving it, love it less after using for months and switching away from it now. I liked the no dust in the beginning, and it didn’t track worse than other litters I’ve used. But, one (of my 3) hated it from the get-go, and one kept eating it. I started mixing it with another litter brand and thought that had fixed it, but I realized while home with them for a week, my boys kept having pee all over their back ends (like dripping wet levels) and one started constantly having a dusty/gritty/oily covering on his paws and forehead. There is always a dust/grit/oily film above the litter in the box I have to wipe down daily, and I noticed my boxes were getting harder to get clean when I scrubbed them out (like the oil/grit was just building layers and the soap/scrubbing wasn’t getting all the way through the film. Both of my boys pee only once a day in huge clumps (they are fine, this is just how they have always been). Because the litter does not absorb quickly, they end up sitting in little puddles of pee as they finish going, which means their back ends are soaked and dripping on their way out of the boxes. The mixing litter helped, but not enough, especially with the added oil/dust/grit film that is on them and everything around the boxes. It takes more than a bag to fill one box and definitely does not last a month (and we have 5 boxes, so it wasn’t because there were 3 cats to a single box or something). Getting it has been problematic a few times as well. It was sent the wrong place twice (even said it was delivered once…in NY, except I’m in MO) though Target customer service handled it and sent a new shipment both times. It is sometimes out of stock as well, which was frustrating when I was trying to rely on it as my litter. But with the problems that I have noticed getting worse, mostly with the film it leaves on everything, but also the lack of quick absorption, I won’t be buying this again.

Love this litter

I have a regular litter box so I am not sure how well this work with robot litter boxes. But I absolutely love it! It was completely dust free. I used to be a hard core scoop away litter user because it clumped well, but this natural litter work just as good if not better because now I don’t have the dust trail tracked out of the box that I was see all the time on the floors. My cat has used this for about 2 weeks now. And I have noticed a difference not only on his paw color but the amount tracked out. His paws are nice and moisturized looking and aren’t ashy like they used to be. I think this is an amazing invention and so much better for your cats health when they clean themselves and aren’t licking the dust from clay litters off their coats. It pricey but worth what it does for your cat and the dust alone. Smell is minimal and seems to be odor controling, that being said you have to clean your box daily, so of course it will smell if you don’t.
