about this item

Paddock Paradise: A Guide to Natural Horse Boarding describes a revolutionary but simple concept for a more naturalized way of horse keeping that is based upon the research done on the Great Basin wild horses by natural horse care expert and author, Jaime Jackson. PP is a must-read for any horse-owner or professional who wants to create an environment that is condusive to greater mental and physical health - helping to virtually eliminate common diseases and disorders such as laminitis, colic, navicular syndrome, ulcers, cribbing, stocking up, etc. Horse owners will also benefit from the reduction in hours spent on 'barn' chores and horses are 'always' warmed up and ready to ride.

"Jackson explains to readers where the concept of the 'track system' originated by observing wild horse band behavior and how to encourage more movement in horses by using these concepts from nature to create a Paddock Paradise of your own through some minor modifications of most traditional boarding set ups. Horses are happier, exercise more and also eat in the manner that nature intended. Although free-roaming horses are far healthier than their stabled or confined cousins, many pastures are seeded with sugary grasses high in carbohydrates that are intended to quickly fatten livestock and thus can easily trigger the debilitating metabolic disease called laminitis. However, Paddock Paradise offers the perfect solution to prevention of laminitis or cure for those horses suffering from its painful symptoms. In fact, Paddock Paradise is an excellent solution to remedy a number of issues that plauge horse owners around the world.

A must read for every horse owner. The only way to keep horses healthy, sound and natural. We applied what we learned from this book and would never go back to traditional horsekeeping - our horses are now happy with no signs of lameness or laminitis. Thank you Jaime Jackson!see moreof the reviewer's review

This author helped me save the life of my first horse. As a new owner I deferred to the existing wisdom of the barn where I bought my horse. As a result of solitary, confined barn living my horse suffered needlessly through chronic lameness issues. My quest to help heal my horse led me to Jaime Jack...see moreof the reviewer's review

This book will knock your socks off and make you realize that the way horses have been kept for hundreds of years has been all about what's convenient and not what is healthy for our horses. Keeping horses in this natural of a state may seem like more work as you read the book, but I can tell you si...see moreof the reviewer's review

Increasingly popular as a method of horse boarding / horse keeping, Paddock Paradise stems from research done on the healthy U.S. Great Basin horses by the author and farrier-turned-natural-hoof-care-expert, Jaime Jackson. Most cultivated grass pastures are comprised of plants designed to fatten li...see moreof the reviewer's review
