Q: Can you safely apply to your nipples if you're breastfeeding?

submitted by RWeathers - 5 years ago
  • A: Palmer's recommends removing all products from the nipple before breastfeeding. Creams and lotions can make the nipple slippery making it difficult to latch on.

New formula is awful. Please fix your product.

This new formula is just awful… it doesn’t absorb into your skin. In fact, the lotion begins to ball up with any material or even just your hand gliding across your skin. I miss the old product, I didn’t care for the cocoa smell of the old product, but at least it fully absorbed and left my skin smooth and soft to the touch. My husband can’t even touch me because he said it feels likes rubbing dead skin off of me. This product is just awful. Why try to fix something that was never broken? And you have somehow made this product worse.. it is in no way an improvement and I am upset that I waisted money on this when I will be chucking it in the trash when i get home this evening. I tried giving it a shot for an entire week thinking maybe it was certain circumstances that caused the lotion to ball up.. maybe too much moisture? Maybe certain fabric I was wearing that rubbed it into balls? Wrong! And wrong again! i have tried it right after a shower.. tried it in the morning when my skin is completely dry.. tried it with a combination of another lotion that I love and leaves my skin smooth and I have come to the conclusion that it is indeed the lotion itself that is the issue. It balls up every single time I have used it no matter the different ways I apply it and leave it to dry and every time it leaves my skin feeling gross and dirty as if my skin is peeling. Absolutely hate it and my husband can’t even touch me because he is grossed out by the feeling of it on my skin as well. I have also noticed the change in the scent of the product. It smells like glue but odor isn’t terribly strong considering I used to hate the smell of the cocoa butter version so I won’t complain about that, although it’s not much of an improvement. Just very chemically and smells very much like a glue based product. I am very disappointed in your new formula. You need to fix this and find out what additive you have put in this new formula that causes it to ball up on the skin so terribly. Your going to be losing many loyal customers because of this result as nobody wants to feel dirty and gross after applying lotion.

Thank you for your feedback! We are sorry that you are not happy with the Massage Lotion for Stretch Marks. Pilling of lotion can occur for a few reasons and there are some easy fixes to prevent this from happening. 1) Exfoliate -sometimes pilling is the result of dead skin cell buildup so exfoliating can help smooth out texture. 2) Cut Back- when moisturizer balls up it can be a result of applying too much product. Try using a thinner application amount 3) Take your time- Pilling can occur when you layer products on too quickly, so if you are using with another product make sure to give it time to absorb before applying a layering formulation. We will pass your comments along to the appropriate team.

Peels

I used this lotion for most of my pregnancy and then decided to try bio oil. This lotion starts to peel once it is dry and I do not like that, bio oil is much better and what I would recommend using besides this product. Hopefully they’ll fix the formula, but when I put this lotion on and it peels off, I feel like it’s pointless.

I got a sample from Baby list and I loved it so I decided to buy the bottle. After using it I was so disappointed because it is sticky, doesn’t smell like the sample and it peels. The peeling part is what is the most annoying for me. I won’t be buying this again. And i don’t even know what to do with the new bottle because I only used it a few times.

I bought this to try I like it since my skin is very dry because of chemotherapy...so I went and bought 3 bottles for my surprise the pumps of the 3 new bottles didn't work until I'm having to put the lotion out with the plastic tube I side and put it in my body is very inconvenient besides I can't get all of it from the bottom. I will love it with more cocoa butter scent and better quality pumps .

I bought the massage lotion for stretch marks tonight and noticed the awful smell and it feels sticky. I have used this brand FOR YEARS and now have to find something new that will help with stretch marks. I was a loyal customer and I'm saddened by the change in formula

I loved this product, I started using it at 10 weeks pregnant(before showing). I used this along with the palmers coconut oil twice a day everyday and I have ZERO stretch marks. Before pregnancy I was 115 lbs and stretched to 170 lbs, mostly belly. 100% recommended this product.

I have to agree with all of the other recent reviews on here. I loved this lotion with my first pregnancy. It smelled amazing and moisturized my skin so nicely. When I got pregnant with my second, I bought a new bottle and assumed I had bought the wrong one. I bought a second bottle only to be just as disappointed. The new formula smells awful and doesn’t rub into the skin smoothly. It felt sticky, not moisturizing. I am so disappointed that Palmer’s would change their tried and true formula. What a shame.

I’m in my second bottle and I used the spray oil for itchy skin in combination and IT DOES NOT work I started to notice this week some stretch marks coming in and I used this preventatively. I switched to bio oil yesterday but I’m disappointed I feel like I got bamboozled because I put my faith in this product

I bought this formula for my first pregnancy along with the original coco butter and I only had one faint stretch mark. Of course I have stretch marks in other places but I feel that is normal. I see a lot of women with high expectations forgetting the practical aspect of a product that specifically states is made for a purpose, results may very. Everything is not for every body… literally.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve been using this product for a few months now, trying to like it, but I just can’t. It does leave my skin feeling a little softer for awhile but first it hasn’t helped with stretch marks like it promises and it’s a bit hard to sink into the skin. It leaves a white residue on the skin.

Thought skin was peeling

I bought this recently as I’m 7 months pregnant and was seeking a good belly moisturizer. The first time I applied the lotion it began to ball up as it was drying, causing me to think my skin was peeling. I didn’t use for about a week and tried reapplying a few nights ago after showering and it did the same thing. After doing some research I see that I’m not the only mama to be with this issue! Ineffective and Uncomfortable

I am entering that itchy stage of pregnancy where my skin is having to change very quickly and I'd also like to do what I can to avoide or ease stretch marks. I was excited for this product, it seemed highly recommended, so I bought the whole set with 4 items: lotion, cream, butter, and oil (via Amazon). The lotion and cream are completely ineffective and uncomfortable - when you put either on, a little while later there is residue on your skin just balling up in to lots of little pills. It almost looks like your skin is peeling, but it's the product. And it's more itchy feeling than before! The butter and oil seem okay (they do not do the "balling up" thing)...but with the other two products missing the mark SO MUCH, I have lost trust in their efficacy.

THE WORST CREAM EVER! Stay away

Dina - 1 year ago

I have never in 41 years been allergic to anything at all in my life, so when I started using this the first time, I noticed all the area around my tummy was itchy and the next day it started to dry up massively and peel off. I didn’t realise I could be allergic to this so carried on using it and if made my skin so itchy and peely. Eventually I stopped using it and went back to it the other day thinking it could have been something else but it is DEFINITELY this cream which messes up my body skin. As I said I am never allergic to any products of any kind so for this to happen to my skin which I don’t consider sensitive in any way with great tolerance to everything, means this is a really bad product, please do yourselves a favour and stay away from it, my dermatologist says nothing works on stretch marks, my children are 14 and 12 now and I only have a few stretch marks but natural olive oil or coconut is the best. Stay away from chemicals and don’t forget to be proud of those little signs in your body which represent you bringing another little life into the world!

This Is Not It!

For Majority of my pregnancy I’ve been using the Palmer’s Tummy Butter, which is amazing. I ran out a couple weeks ago and decided to buy the Palmers Tummy Lotion because the shea butter was sold out and THESE TWO ARE NOT THE SAME AT ALL. The shea is more natural and actually helps prevent stretch marks. I’ve been using that product for 6 months, and yes that jar can last you up to 6 months. It requires very little shea butter to get the job done. This Palmer’s Tummy Lotion peels and it stinks. I have to accompany my lotion with Johnson’s baby lotion so the can actually absorb and for a better smell. 100% do not recommend. If you can not find the Palmers Tummy Butter (Shea Butter Jar), then don’t buy it.
