Q: Can you use chalk markers on this board?

A: Hello, Thank you for the question. We recommend using only chalk on this chalkboard and wiping clean after each use with a damp cloth to keep your chalkboard looking fresh for the next photo op!

Q: Does this have the word “months” written out permanently or is that something the buyer fills in? I’m wondering if I can write the word “years” in its place.

A: Hello, It is not recommended to use chalk markers on this board as they may stain the board. We recommend using chalk and wiping clean after each use with a damp cloth.

Was excited to use this for my newborn but unfortunately after one use it’s ruined. I should have read the reviews warning that you cannot use chalkboard markers. I will now have to purchase a different board since this one does not allow for you to erase chalkboard marker from it. (Chalkboard was primed and treated as instructed before using the markers). Do not buy if you’re wanting to use anything other than regular chalk.

The chalk that comes with it is tiny and fragile. But, using chalk markers leaves behind whatever you wrote. and if you leave the writing on too long, it won't come off at all. The concept is cute, but I would rather have a product I can use chalk markers on.

I really like this board! It's cute! The only thing I would change is in the My Favorites sections I would take off song and story. I wish it just said My Favorite.... So I could add if it was food, toys or something else that my child likes. Other then that I like it!

Its a little ridiculous that so many people leave bad reviews because they used chalk markers when the description literally tells you not to use them! This board is perfect and adorable, just use regular chalk! (Like it tells you).... I bought the chunky crayon shaped chalk and it's easy to write with. Any bad reviews are just user error...

Durable and sturdy. Easy to write on and erase. Cleans well to be able to reuse each month. Visually pleasing, and the use of different colors is a bonus.

DO NOT USE chalkboard markers!!! You can only use chalk. The chalk it comes with isn't the best. And the actual board is thin. It should say in the description that you cannot use chalkboard markers. Disappointed!

Love this! We have a 3 month old and a 22 month old and I can’t wait to capture the moments of each month with them. The board itself is nice and sturdy. The chalk comes in 4 colors. The one that is supposed to be green just looks blue to me but that isn’t a big deal. The chalk writes well and it’s obviously super easy to use just need to know the baby’s stats. So I will definitely do one after each check up so I know what they are. Once you are done just wipe the chalk board with a little soap and water and dry it off for next month. I love this and definitely suggest this as a gift or for parents that just want a fun way to capture the moments.

This is such a cute board, we look forward to using it every month for our baby. However do not use chalk markers/pens on it! For this reason we only gave it three stars. Even with prepping the board with chalk, it took a ton of elbow grease and product to get the chalk marker off. Not sure what we will use in subsequent months as traditional chalk is difficult to write with.
