I starting using these in the early 1970's at Georgia Tech. Keep the same pencil for several years at a time. Clean them on occasion and dump out broken bits of lead regularly. Don't try to mark lumber or concrete. If you use them as a pencil, you can't do better

I used this pencil a few years ago and it only lasted a few months. I brought it now and it broke in two days. It's pretty expensive for just a pencil.

I received this pencil in no kind of package or box. Just wrapped in some blue plastic. This was a gift for a college registry. I thought this was very tacky.

I have been using Pentel sharps for over a decade. I love them to pieces literally because the the parts are interchangeable, I do wish that the .09 mm’s came in different colors but that’s the point took the guts out of a yellow and put it any color you want. But I finally got a graph gear for the 09 lead but still have some of the changed out ones.

My company purchased my Sharpâ„¢ Mechanical Drafting Pencil 205 in 1984 and I am still using it today 2/08/19, 34 years later. I have my eye on a second pencil, but I don't want jinx my trusty Black Pentel . . . that Forest Green looks classic and it's my favorite color.

Solid, durable mechanical pencil

This pencil will last a lifetime. Instead of throwing away plastic pens and pencils, I recommend everyone cut down on waste and get something that lasts like this. But I'm knocking this down to a 4-star review because the refills come in plastic containers in such small sizes, which is unnecessarily wasteful.

I've been using this exact brand and size of mechanical pencil for the past 25 years--since I was in college as a math major. This is my go to pencil. I prefer the 0.5mm size because it gives a nice fine tip but I know other people who have felt like the 0.7 or 0.9 sizes were a better fit for them. So you'll have to decide how fine of a pencil tip do you like? The only drawback to this is the eraser that comes under the back cap is so small and quickly gets used up, but I always have a secondary eraser nearby so I've gotten used to it. It's not the cheapest but as long as you don't lose them (which I did... thus the reason for buying another one) they last forever!
