Philips Avent Anti-colic Bottle with AirFree vent Newborn Starter Gift Set, SCD391/01 provides everything a new parent needs to start safe, easy feeding. Each of the 4 BPA free Anti-colic bottles includes an AirFree vent designed to reduce most common feeding issues including colic, gas, and reflux. This set includes 3 Anti-colic 9oz bottles with AirFree vents, 2 Anti-colic 4oz bottles with AirFree vents, 2 Pacifiers, and Bottle Brush. The Formula Dispenser holds 3 pre-measured portions of milk powder and is ideal for travel. The Bottle Brush's curved brush head and molded tip cleans hard to reach areas. The My First Trainer Cup allows you to add handles to a familiar bottle and nipple and comes with a nipple and soft spout for easy training.
My husband and I started out with these bottles and another well-known brand of venting bottle. My daughter eats very eagerly and quickly, so she ended up swallowing a lot of air when we didn't use the vent system. My husband and I ended up preferring the other brand, finding its venting system far superior. Though the shape and size of this one make it comfortable to hold, we find that the Philips vent system doesn't work as well and doesn't keep the nipple full of formula as well, allowing my daughter to swallow more air with this type than with the other. I wanted to like this one better because the pieces are easier to clean, but I have to go with performance over ease!
My granddaughter had been having problems with her tummy and gas issues. I chose these hoping it would relieve some of her GI problems and she has felt much better with them! I would definitely recommend these for newborns. The brush is another wonderful added bonus!!! Love how the bristles aren't hard and easily mold into the bottles and nipples for easy cleaning!
These bottles are great. My son has taken to them quite well and he seems to have less gas and is easier to burp. An added bonus is the pacifier that comes in this bundle. It is the only pacifier he has taken too.
I exclusively breastfeed my 3-month-old, but have a dilemma. This mama of three occasionally needs a little me time! Yet, my baby will NOT take a bottle. I’ve tried two different brands before trying the Philips Avent anti-colic bottle with airfree vent which was so graciously provided to me by the weeSpring Parent Panel! After trying it a couple times we have success! He definitely seems to do better with the nipple of this bottle, although not 100% of the time and the same goes for the pacifier the kit included. The shape didn’t seem to gag my baby and he seemed to like it. Not to mention, I found the bottle comfortable to hold and easy to clean. As for the anti-colic portion, I didn’t notice any difference and could potentially see having to have the vent always facing upward be slightly annoying. It also occasionally dripped if the components weren’t put on correctly or if the lid loosened which was easy to do. I’m on the fence about recommending this bottle to expectant parents or giving as a gift as I think it all depends on your baby, but I do like the fact that it is BPA free and for me, even with the minor cons I mentioned, if it allows me to even have 2 hours of me time in a hectic week I’ll take it!!
Thanks to the weeSpring Parent Panel for providing me with this gift set. It was the perfect addition to our family's bottles, which are actually all part of the Philips Avent brand. We've used these bottles since my little one was born and they have been nothing but stellar. This starter set would be perfect for other new moms and dads out there looking to try out some bottles before committing, or if you want to add to the bottles you already have. The bottles themselves are easy to use, easy to clean, and easy to assemble. My baby girl has rarely if ever had issues with reflux or excessive gas, which may be thanks to good genes or may be due to her bottles. Either way, we aren't changing them any time soon. She also loves the pacifiers (our favorite!) and we use the bottle brush, along with another one we have, fairly regularly. The sippy cup handles are amazing and helped my daughter learn how to hold her own bottles, even without the handles, within a week. The only part of the gift set we haven't used is the formula dispenser, though our friends who have one say it's great. I would absolutely give this gift set to expecting or new parents and would be happy if someone wanted to gift me another one :) Highly recommend!
