These trains are absolute cheap china garbage. They break within days, some parts within minutes. But, my son loves them.

This was purchased as a Christmas gift off the shelf at Target for a grandchild. It’s not typically a stocked item. It didn’t come out of the box until last week. First the good. It’s inexpensive, colorful, can be expanded, and it’s scale nearly matches the “drive” by Battat vehicle sets also sold by Target. The bad. This is basically one step above a toy you’d find at a dollar store. The locomotive is powered by 2 AAA batteries that give the loco some weight, but it still averaged 1 derailment for every three laps around the oval track. The box pictures a loco pulling several cars but only one flat car is provided. Creating a “train” requires expansion sets and that raises the price. On line shoppers are spared from that deception as the toy is pictured out of the box and you see what you are getting. The pieces are small and coupling the loco and car(s) together isn’t easy. The track is difficult to assemble as well. The joints don’t level out without some effort and leaving the track joints uneven will derail the train immediately. Finally it runs pretty fast on fresh batteries and can’t be pushed manually when no batteries are installed. It runs so fast that it it can barely hold the track in the turns. (It actually lifts off the inside rail) Plan on playing with you child with this set. It’ll just frustrate them if left on their own to play with it. But its cheaper than the two of you going to a movie and will last a little longer too. To me that together time makes it worth the 10 bucks. After a few hours of play our set was boxed back up, with the batteries, for a trip to the Goodwill donation center.

Would give zero Stars if I could. This is an awful awful toy. Piece of junk. Track doesn’t stay together at all. Trains did not work fresh out of box with brand new batteries. Child of 5yrs was so frustrated. Returned to store within 2 hours of purchase. Dont be a sucker like me and buy this trash from China!!!

Great little train for the price! Got it for my 5 year old for his birthday (along with another engine) and he loves it. Been playing with it every day for hours. He’s made his own bridges with blocks to fit over the tracks. The batteries lasted about 2 1/2 days before needing to be changed, although the military engine is still going strong on its first set. Highly recommend for a train lover and I’ll be buying more tracks to add to this set. I am a little dissapointed that they don’t work with the original power train tracks, although these new tracks are improved (used to be a lot of derailing on the old tracks).

Great First Powered Train Set

Bridging the gap between wooden toy trains and expensive electronic model train sets, this product is a great pickup for those in between. Modeled in the smaller N scale, this allows for larger layouts and trains in a smaller space than HO. This set features just one flatbed car, so you'll likely be adding expansions to grow your train. If you've purchased the original Power Trains, this new 2.0 features a smaller scale, and won't be compatible, but has greatly improved track connections.
