Wow, so much fun. We have both the Dune Racer and the Desert Race. They appear to share the majority of the parts but the Desert Racer does not have a storage compartment for toys. The Desert Racer also has wider tires than the Dune Racer. Both handle the Arizona sand really well but they excel on the harder surfaces. When you put it together, make sure the lock washer on the bottom does not rub the bar. If there is rubbing you need to adjust it, it will cut the kids ability to turn to next to 0 degrees. (lesson learned). My three year old prefers the Dune Racer due to the lower front end, my five year old likes the Desert Racer since it's pink. Both use the same battery, common parts except for the tires and front ends. Charge the battery per instructions and you should have no problems. Call ahead to the stores if you want to buy one online. The online "availability" isn't always what the store has. I had to make a 150 mile round trip to get mine but the Tucson store was amazing, while ordering they put their "hands on" one for me in the back to verify that my order would go through (previously had an issue with the online item locator, Minneapolis is a three day drive, one way, so I was not going to "pick it up" there. Great items, Target Managers and employees went above and beyond on this for me!
