I purchased this product about a year ago, and absolutely fell in love with it. I was looking for a healthy option for cooking for my family without having to let go of the fried foods that we all enjoyed. In that regard, this product did exactly what I was looking for. Fried foods like chicken, fries and mozzarella sticks all came out brown and crispy, just as if they had been fried in oil, but without the fat and calories and it tasted great. The Fryer was easy to use and clean and came with a recipe book as advertised. I was skeptical on the claims that you could cook anything including roasts and baked goods, but I put it to the test and sure enough I was able to put a small roast into the unit and it came out perfectly. The 5.3 quart size is perfect for cooking portions big enough for two to three people but preparing larger meals took an extra amount of time because you would have to cook in batches. I am a working mom and student with two kids, who are college students and we are a very busy household with a hectic schedule. This was a convenient option because they could easily throw themselves fries, mozzarella sticks or chicken wings in the fryer and easily clean up. My husband who can’t even boil water was able to use this unit to easily prepare himself a meal. I was completely satisfied with my purchase, and it was wonderful while it lasted.
After a few times washing it, I started to notice that the non-stick coating on the inside of the food basket started to peel off . I was disappointed that it was not more durable. After about two more months of use, the button on the handle that releases the inner cooking basket from the outer basket of the unit began to malfunction. When I pulled the basket out of the unit by the handle, the inner basket released from the outer basket before I intended it to and I almost dropped my entire meal onto the floor. Fortunately I was able to get the outer basket to the counter before this happened.
After about 9 months of use, the unit just completely stopped working. When plugged in, it does absolutely nothing, no lights, no noise, no internal fan, nothing. I didn’t purchase an extended warranty so I will just have to purchase an entirely new unit, more than likely from a different brand.
This was my first purchase of an air fryer and I was so excited about being able to enjoy the foods that my family and I loved and at the same time be more health conscious. I just wish I had taken the time to read the reviews beforehand, as I now see that there are several people who have had the exact same experience with this product. This purchase has definitely been a learning experience in that I know what the air fryer is capable of doing and I know what to expect from the next unit that I purchase. Fortunately it wasn’t too terribly costly of a learning experience because this was one of the cheaper units I had to choose from. I guess the saying is true that you get what you pay for. I would hope that since my purchase, the manufacturer has worked out these issues, so that consumers in the future will get a more durable product. And I would definitely recommend for future consumers to read the reviews on the product before purchasing and definitely purchasing the extended warranty. It can save you a lot of hassle. Overall, it’s not a bad product, just not durable and didn’t last.
