Prior to purchasing this product I had never been able to sharpen knives. My family owned a drawer full of very good quality but very dull knives. Of the knife sharpeners I’ve had, this seems to work the best. It is important to set the blade down on the grinding wheel gently to prevent gouging the knife and then to draw it slowly and steadily through. No problems so far. Motor a little slower than I prefer, however, for the price it beats having dull knives. My only complaint is that I bought it as a gift for my housemate and it was shipped just like you would see it on a store shelf, not in a shipping carton.see moreof the reviewer's review
