Nothing like i thought. It's a regular crock pot that looks like a cooler. It doesn't keep your food warm for very long when unplugged. The handle needs to be in the up position and unlocks easy. I didn't care for this at all.

Fun look! Looks just like husbands lunch box. A little bulky. Keeps food warm longer than regular cookers. Great for tailgating and sturdy.

Love love it ! I just suggest not automatically thinking “portable” when you see “traveling” I was thinking it was take anywhere and cook anywhere, but to find out it is to only be used to cook in Home and it’s sealable to safely travel in a car without spills. It works as it should and keeps food from spilling out while traveling with it to a BBQ. I love how it has the little dry erase board so family or friends know what they are getting.

Cute but may not be better than other traveling slow cookers

This is an interesting slow cooker. I used it a couple of times to cook meals that we took to parties. I never made anything which came close to the maximum fill line, so I do not know how it would travel with liquid items at that level. The cooking was fine like the "regular" slow cooker I have. The travel was OK. I did not like having the handle up while traveling. We were generally cramped in the car and the handle having to be up to lock the lid was a bit of a pain for me, since it kept getting knocked into. Note: the white board marker should be removed when cooking, which I am sure down the line if I have not lost it will happen soon enough, but the idea is cute and a nice way to tell people what you brought. I would wait until you get where you are going to write in it since I kept wiping it off when handling along the way. The lid design was nice in that it has a hinge, but can be easily taken off. There is also a condensation collector in the back to collect the water when the lid is up, which is a nice touch. The storage for the cord was decent. Over all I liked it, but I am not sure that it is work $30 more than a slow cooker with a locking lid and handles for travel. It seems to take up more space since the handle needs to be up during travel.

A Nice Way to Travel with Your Food

I decided to make some peruviano beans for my first time cooking with the Presto Traveling Slow Cooker. It doesn’t cook as evenly as an actual crock pot – beans at the bottom were smooshed and beans in the middle were hard after the four-hour cooking time – but I let it go an extra half hour, since hard beans were the bigger issue. There were a few things I would suggest for the next model. First and foremost is the need for a power indicator light. It seemed odd not to have one, and since it takes a bit to get warm, you don’t know it is actually on for a while. Also it would be good if the manual lets people know that to get the handle out of the locked position, you need to push with some force. I spent some time searching for a release button and looking for instructions because I was worried about breaking it (a release button would be even better). The outside of it gets hotter than I would have expected, though, which means you have to be careful when you load it up to take it with you. But my handled/travel crock pot also is hot if you cook and go. It just weighs four times as much, since the liner in the crock pot is heavy stoneware and the liner in this is metal with nonstick coating (cleans up well, too). It would be handy for a party or beach or picnic. And I bet cold would be good in there too, since really, the liner fits inside the unit that is more like a cooler-looking thing, so insulated. I’ll continue to use my traditional crock pot for most things, most likely, but this will be handy for food I’ll transport. A Presto Traveling Slow Cooker was provided to me in exchange for my honest review.

Great item, pretty easy and simple to use. Had a 4th of July bbq and had to travel a couple hours away. Made some bbq meatballs before leaving and took the slow cooker with us. Kept them warm until we got to the destination! Easy to clean also, i love that it has the handle and a spoon rest on it.
