A:Â It must be defective...I would return it. We purchased two and they work fine. You may want to try a different brand...the two that we purchased have started to rust... this is very disappointing.

Q: We purchased two of these microwaves and one of them is starting to rust from the inside. The rusting is not due to misuse or not cleaning after each use. Has anyone experienced this problem?

Have kept it extra clean, dried it out when there is excess steam, etc., and I would never recommend this microwave, nor would I ever buy it again. Thank you for asking - as I thought it was just me!

A:Â No the door is fine. The only issue is yje clock sometimes ends up being slow even when it's been reset.

We got this microwave to replace one that we had for 13 years. I bought this new proctor/silex one in Oct 2022. I bought it because it looks streamlined and modern. As others have noted, the control panel is very dark with no backlighting, so at night in a dim room you need to use a flashlight to see the control panel slections. Sorry, but that is a big problem. The next issue seems like a mechanial design issue–the fan does not remove the moisture from the inside...I have never seen a microwave accumulate so much condensation...it is soaking wet everywhere! Due to this, the seam in the back at the bottom has started to RUST causing the inside to look bad and old. And I've only owned this for a few months!! My old microwave was so much better...too bad it died. Bottom line is don't let the good looks deceive you–purchace one that has good reviews!

The keypad is so dark, it's almost impossible to see anything on it. I talked to Proctor Silex and they said there isn't any way to increase the brightness. If I hadn't gotten it on sale, I would definitely be returning it and still may.

I bought this to replace my GE 1100W microwave. The GE lasted about a year and a half so I am hoping for the better with this Proctor Silex. Consumer reports says Proctor Silax has better than average reliability, so we'll see. I really like the door handle. All microwaves should have a handle like this. It's a long handle that you can easily get your whole hand around. The 1100W microwave seems a little less powerful than my previous 1100W GE microwave, but not a game changer. The control panel is a little dark so it is a little difficult to see sometimes. Also, be aware that the power cord does NOT have a right angle plug on it so the plug and cord stick inches out from the wall outlet. Why did they do this?? My biggest complaint is the kitchen timer. When you set the kitchen timer, after 5 seconds the display reverts back to the clock! Why do i want to see the clock when I have set the timer??? Who thought this was a good idea? So you have to keep pressing the timer button so you can see the remaining timer time, then in 5 seconds it reverts back to the clock. I want to know how much time I have left on the timer, not what the clock time is!!! We'll have to wait and see if the microwave last longer than a year or so.
