I received the machine with the resistance cable out of adjustment, making the lowest resistance level too high. I was given instructions on how to adjust it but getting to the adjustment inside the machine is very complex requiring a lot of disassembly which I'm not comfortable with. Calling customer service I was told they will not do an in home repair on this so I guess they just expect me to live with a machine that's stuck on a resistance level that's too high for me. There advice was to find someone who could help me. Terrible customer support!
I've had this elliptical assembled for approximately a month. it's well-built and works as expected. This thing feels like the gym models. The only negative would be the mobility aspect. This elliptical is HEAVY. I knew that going into the purchase but I figured the wheels would be big enough to assist in moving it. They are basically useless. I bought a moving dolly to move this thing around if needed.
I read all the reviews - the good, bad, and the ugly. So when I ordered the PROFORM Pro 16.9 Elliptical, I was hoping nothing would go wrong. When I ordered, I asked that the product be brought into my house - good decision! I was very pleased as the ease of the assembly. I did need my wife to help hold and lift a couple of times as it only took about an hour for a complete assembly without electric tools. It took both of us to move it to the exact location in the living room. I was worried that the front assembly would be too high and wide for me to watch television while working out - not so! I can't look over, but I can see just fine to the side. I did hear a little clicking when I first started, but I quickly realized it was the way I was shifting my body. I did not register with iFit as there are 15 workout options to get you started that increase in intensity as well as some of the scenic running routes. You will need internet access to update the firmware and to use most of the workout options. I really like the automatic incline and resistance with the workout scenarios. I thought the heart rate option was not working and went back to the instructions. There were two layers of wrap on the handles. The first one was the shipping wrap, so when I took off the plastic wrap, I thought I was good - not so. There is one more layer (white tape) that is the covering the silver in color detectors. There is already some resistance at 0 resistance, so don't expect to have the free wheel experience like a downhill bicycle ride. By my second week (4 out of 7 days a week - 20 minute workouts) I didn't even notice it. I'm only 5'4" and 270 lbs, so I was a little worried about the stride, but found it just perfect for me. I did feel the strange effect of leaning forward when I first started, but adjusted my workout stance and all is good! Would have liked to have a little explanation on what each of the workout options entailed, i.e. start with this workout first. Happy.
