Rainbow Vanilla Cake Mix - 18.15oz - Favorite Day™

Lovely, Moist and delicious, colors came out a bit squished together but still rainbow

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had fun making a naked cake with this cake mix. It had to definitely double up mixes though in order to make all the layers, one box won’t do it unless the layers are even thicker than this.

I bought this for my daughter so that we could make a cake together for her birthday. She had asked for a rainbow cake - so when I saw this, I thought "why not"? I am not an experienced baker by any means and this is a cake mix under $4 - so my expectation is really low, especially given how complicated the end product looks. One confusion/shock I had initially was that red/pink comes in powder form as opposed to the liquid shown on the box. Besides this, the instructions are quite clear. My daughter had a blast mixing up the ``right'' shades. The end result was so much better than I could have anticipated - It looks ``rainbow'', although the individual layers of colors in our cake aren't so cleanly separated as shown in the box. Part of the reasons I believe is that I used 2 9" pans (since that was all I have) while the recipe calls for 2 8" pans. Taste-wise, I think it's pretty good given it's a store-bought cake mix. In short, a great product and a super fun experience!

I was looking forward to making this for Easter. I bought two new 8” cake pans and 6 bowls just to make this, cant return any because I put them all in the dishwasher. Opened box tonight and there is no pink coloring. How do I following the instructions if you leave out a very important thing. Very disappointed

Simple to follow instructions! Turned out lovely! The red color was a powder which was a surprise but did a fine job with mixing in the batter and with the blue and yellow liquid dye. It may have a light almond or vanilla flavor- I couldn’t quite tell but it was very yummy to many people. It’s a box mix- can’t be too picky

The box didn’t actually contain the three color packs. It was yellow and blue and then a red powder. The powder was not strong enough to make pink, orange, or purple because the liquid colors overpowered it and the pink was just white still cuz there was no actual color. Absolute trash!

Loved it! So much fun and easy. Super delicious too! We used strawberry frosting.

Nice idea, vibrant colors. Unfortunately the cake smelled and tasted of almonds. This was a huge disappointment for my daughter who enjoyed making the cake and mixing the colors. The taste was so strong and definitely not vanilla. No-one liked it so it was binned.
