About this item
The book analyzes how management thinking and management practice are largely influenced by traditional approaches rooted in economics which seek to conceptualize the economy and management positivistically and functionalistically. With the establishment of fields such as critical management studies or the cultural economy, new ways of thinking and more diverse approaches have developed. These share the impulse to open up management and to promote an independent ‘cultural turn’. ReThinking Management pursues the main idea that management theory is not to be understood as a sub-discipline of economics, but rather as an inter- and trans-disciplinary field with a decidedly cultural perspective.
