The first Rice-A-Roni product was created in 1958 when Vince, inspired by an Armenian style rice pilaf, placed rice and pasta in a box with a dry seasoning mix. Originally named for its combination of half rice and half pasta, Rice-A-Roni quickly became a staple in American families’ meals. I followed the instructions exactly and no matter how long I cooked it for the rice was still hard, directions said 15 minutes I cooked it for 45 and the rice was still rock hard, I don’t even know how that’s possible

Used to love Rice A Roni, but the sodium level is way too high. One serving is just under my maximum daily dose of 1100. Wish Rice A Roni made a lower sodium version of different rice dishes.

I love this stuff. Reminds me of childhood. Add sauted corn kernels, shrimp or chicken, some peas, and even some scrambled egg,,f Top with scallions-yum. Glad to see it, this flavor is hard to find.

I should have known. While I do love their long grain wild rice, the stir fry is a big NO! No flavor of any kind, it taste kind of like the chicken flavor rice that they sell.

Perfect balance of flavors! I often substitute brown rice and Orzo to make this dish, and just add the seasoning packet. Turns out very fluffy and authentic, especially fabulous with eggrolls! (For extra depth of flavors, I add a little Sesame Oil and sherry or white wine to the water before cooking, also season with a splash of soy sauce after). Add a handful of thawed frozen peas immediately after removing from heat, recover and let sit for 15 min. Then fluff and serve! Really good alone, or topped with homemade Gen. Tso's or Kung Pau Tofu!!
