I love string lights and I couldn't resist these for my daughter's room as a "night light." The stars can come off pretty easily and I'm assuming if your string of lights go out you could buy some cheap ones and just add the paper stars. see moreof christina22's review

However, be warned, the tissue paper stars are extremely delicate, most had holes or tears already in them upon removal from the box. Cute Paper Stars, but not in color I wanted

I ordered the pink stars, was worried since they look purple on the images. Upon receiving and plugging them in, I kind of wish they were purple. Instead, they look red! So it's not really pink. Been 2 weeks, still hasn't burned out.
