Bottom line: This was created by people who really hate other humans. The texture, taste and aroma of these things were just awful. Literally spat it out and gagged - sticks to teeth, leaves a weird residue behind. Incredibly sticky so fair warning to people with braces, fillings, etc. Thick, gooey, and a disconcerting blend of flavors. It might be the dates, although I eat dates alone with no problem. Threw the rest of the box away. Considered adding to food pantry donation, but I didn’t want people who were already in a hard place to have to then suffer through eating them.

I typically love these bars, but this box had a Best by date of 12/2019. I bought them in July of 2021. I returned the box to target and found 2 other boxes that had best by dates of > 1 year ago. Very disappointed.
