Safety 1st OutSmart Multi-Use Lock

This product was very simple to install. You could use this on your fridge or even just cabinets that do not have knobs. I love the flexibility of the product and the swivel feature is a fave. Of course, the decoy button is amazing for distraction of toddlers.

I have been using this product professionally and personally for over a month now. Within my own home, I use it to keep my forever snacking toddler out of the pantry. It is great! It has even deterred my husband from snacking before dinner because the decoy button tricked him too! Bonus! I work in the autism field and we are always working on having our learners communicate with their parents/guardians for their wants and needs. Many of our clients have out smarted the child proof products around. I have shared with item with 5 families already. My clients are now asking again rather than having a free access to the pantry.

I loved the concept behind the item, the adhesive unfortunately doesn't stick for long. My 1 year old ripped it right off.

I must have bought a faulty lock because it won't open. I thought I just couldn't get a grip on it since it wasn't installed, so I put it on my fridge and it won't open. I'm going to have to cut it off. I tried contacting the company first, but it's a weekend, so I'm not going to get a response in a timely manner. I wasted $7 on this piece of junk that could have gone elsewhere in my budget.

I put this lock on our oven because my 2 year old has been pulling it open while things are baking inside. It was easy to install and doesn't look too obtrusive (for a child safety lock), and both my 2 and 4 year old were stumped by the decoy button. Hard to say if the oldest would figure it out with time, so you might want to shield their view with your hand when opening. But unfortunately, the adhesive already popped off after just one day. I haven't turned the oven on yet but did use the stove, so maybe it was the heat, or it doesn't adhere well to metal and glass. I stuck it back on but don't expect it to last long, especially if (when) my toddler tries to pull open the door. So be aware that it may not adhere well to certain materials and/or heat may cause it to come off. It might be better suited to a simple cupboard door. This is a great product for keeping toddlers away from where you don't want them. I'm using the product on the fridge and it is working very well so far. Very easy to install.

We put them on the refrigerator and freezer door and a pantry cabinet. bathroom cabinets are next.

This lock was great and was easy to install. The fake button was a great touch and instantly drew my little ones eyes. It was a great addition to our baby proofing plan

I used this lock on our pantry door. It doesn't always shut well and my toddlers are always getting into it and pulling things out! I have a 3 year old and 1 year old and neither of them can open this lock. I love the decoy button because it distracts them. Such a great idea!

I have tried about 4 different types of saftey straps but my husband and I keep coming back to this one. We absolutely love these straps. Super easy to install and use. I have a four year old and 14 month old. Both kids were able to destroy all the other straps but not these. My 4 year old knows how to put these together but doesn't quite have the pincher grip to undo them yet, which is great for keeping him safe. My 14 month tries pulling on them but the adhesive doesn't bust like the other brands I tried. When our fridge one came undone after 3 years of use, my husband just replaced the adhesive and it has lasted another year. They also don't leave any damage when removing them, as we used them in an apartment. Just make sure to clean and fully dry your surface before applying the adhesive. We have been searching stores for these but they always seem out.

The Safety 1st Outsmart Multi-Use Lock is a solid door lock. It's a great option for refrigerator and freezer doors, especially if you have littles like mine who love to open but not fully close the fridge and freezer. The decoy button is genius. I really like that the static side had a hinge so that the lock didn't have to stick out when not in use. The only teeny tiny design detail I didn't love is that because of the side of the door I had to put the lock on, the Safety 1st logo was upside down. I received this baby proofing item from the Stellar Product Testing Panel. I have a 3.5 year old and a 1 year old so baby proofing is essential in our home! This lock was very easy to install (maybe 15 seconds!) The decoy button in the design is amazing. Not only will it fool your toddler but will also fool many adults! The design confused me a bit and at first I thought it had to be used on a corner door (which is why I installed it on our wine fridge), but now that I've installed it, I see that I could have used it on a flat surface as well. The look is a little clunky so I wouldn't want to line every cabinet in my kitchen with them, but definitely good for a select cabinet or two. Overall I am happy with the lock. Neither one of my kids has managed to figure it out and they have not been able to open wine fridge since it was installed, so that's a win!

In theory this is a great idea.... but if the adhesive doesn't stick they are useless. I installed these in lazy Susan corner cabinets, and worked great for to secure the motion this type of cupboard. Too bad the the most important feature of the product failed, the adhesive.

As a mother of 2 young children, I am always looking for ways to keep them safe around my house. The newest obsession in our house are toilets- opening, closing, and putting anything and everything in the toilet water. This Outsmart Multi-Use Lock that I received in the Stellar Product Testing Panel was the perfect solution to keep little hands and unwanted items out of the toilet. It was extremely easy to install. I cleaned the area on the side of the bowl and the lid with a multipurpose cleaner, let it dry, then placed the lock on the side of the toilet, after ensuring the lid could not open more than 1 inch. The decoy button has tricked my children multiple times. They can push the button as many times as they want and nothing happens. I really like this feature. When it is time to open the toilet, it's very easy to squeeze the functional buttons and pivot the lock out of the way. The material also is easy to clean and sanitize. Overall, this is a win for our house and I would recommend it to other parents!

Our pantry door does not latch when closed, so I thought there's no way to keep our food-loving toddler out of there. This lock is so convenient to this situation! He'll push the button all day long, and honestly has even learned how to RELOCK it if I forget, but can't undo it himself!

Installed on our fridge door - we actually placed on the freezer section as this is the door she likes to try to slide open. Works wonderfully! :)

I love that this keeps my toddler (and her friends) out of my freezer. She can't figure out how to open it, no matter how many times she pushes the button. It also kept her Grandma out of the freezer over the weekend (by accident) so the decoy button works for all ages! I do wish that it came with an extra set of stickies, in case we change our mind on the placement in the future.

This lock was perfect for a toddler-level drawer that needed to be off-limits. We placed this lock on a lower kitchen drawer, which has been great at preventing our child from getting into the drawer. Once it was installed, our toddler showed interest in the new addition to the drawer and tried pushing the decoy button and pulling the strap that keeps it closed. The lock remained secure and the button provided some entertainment for her before she lost interest and moved on to exploring other areas of the house. The design is functional and straightforward but will remain on the outside of drawers or cabinets and cannot be hidden. While some people may not like a child lock being visible on cabinets, it does make for easy access when adults need to get into the locked space compared with products that are concealed inside cabinets. Bought this for when my grandchildren come over. They used to constantly try to get into the fridge. This stopped that altogether. Now, they don't even bother trying to open it because the know they can't. It is easy to open for an adult, but not for the kids. A simple safe solution! want to put one on the dishwasher next.
