Take up to 2 bikes along with you on this Schwinn 2-Bike Trunk Rack. Start your ride at the most scenic part of the trail by using this bike rack to drive your bikes to the best part. Sturdy construction and unique bike hold-downs keep your bikes secure. Folds quickly and easily for compact storage. Bike carrier fits most sedans, hatchbacks and vans.
I like this product. The directions on how to put it on your vehicle could have been a little more detailed and I wish they would list the compatible vehicles that are on the box, but luckily my vehicle was compatible!
This has to be one of the best racks out there. I just wish a lot people that complain about it could read and follow instructions. Like most racks, not all cars are suitable for this bike rack. If your car is ruined from this, it means that it is not approved to be installed on your car. Check the back of the box for the list. I read a reviewer with BMW X5 stating that they followed the instruction to to the "t" to install it on their X5, when the instruction clearly states that this rack is NOT to be installed on a BMW x5. Go figure.
Great in theory but not practical. The straps and buckle are very cheap. I had to tighten up the straps and zip tie them to keep from sliding. Not practical for a child size bike. I needed up scratching my daughters brand new bike. Wish I could rerun it but can not.
This bike rack is probably the worst purchase I have ever made. It never secured, and in the process I scratched my brand new car in multiple spots. Beyond that, I’ve tried returning it through mail, and it says that option is not available yet (COVID-19 mail returns only).
So if you read the directions, this bike rack works just fine. Everything was nice and secure. No shaking or bouncing. Sure, it would be nice if you didn’t have to tie off the ends of the straps, and the strap to hold the bike in place was a little flimsy (used a different one from another bike rack we have), but overall, I have absolutely no problems using this on a regular basis. Also, despite what it says on the box, it fits fine on a Mazda 3. :)
Straps loosen while driving. We had to readjust at every pit stop we made. Tying the loose ends together worked better. We had to use a lot of bungee chords with it to hold the bikes. One leg of the trip, we didn’t stop soon enough and the pad dented the truck where it was rubbing/bouncing. i recommend buying a different rack to save you time and hassle.
Seems to work pretty well. I had my son help me with it. The diagram wasn't real clear on where the metal pin went, but my son figured that out quickly for me. I have used it several times and the bike feels secure.
I don't recommend this bike rack for two reasons: 1) You can't mount a woman's bike. This is designed for a man's bike with a crossbar. When mounting a bike, the steps should be simple for one person - lift, mount and strap it in!! It shouldn't require 2 people - one person to hold the bike up, and another to jury rig the straps and determine what part of the bike to connect them to; and 2) The straps loosen running the risk of your bike falling off, traveling down the road in the opposite direction from which you're driving, and getting run over by a dump truck!! Don't waste your money. I also have a 2019 Cadillac CTS. This rack isn't very secure on this type of vehicle.
