Most of the negative reviews are due to color and the inability to add training wheels. We have zero complaints. Purchased it put together and made some slight adjustments to the brake pads to make sure they were in the right place, super easy. I will say there is some variation in the “dark blue” color. One at the store looked purple and the other (the one we bought) looks navy blue/black. Functions great and if you remove the back reflector and go with a light, you can lower the seat more. As for training wheels, we don’t need them but a lot of people said you can’t add them so that may be a deal breaker for you. Otherwise, it holds up to the Schwinn brand and it’s a great kids bike for our 7 year old.

Don't be like me and say, "It's a kid's bike, OF COURSE I can buy some training wheels to put on it,"--nope! In an ambitious effort to save a few cents, Schwinn chose to put a rear axle on that is only wide enough to fit the stock washer and nut. I wish I'd checked reviews before showing my son the bike in store and/or this limitation was clearly marked on in-store merchandising material.

My son needs training wheels so I bought Schwinn training wheels. The threaded bolt on the back wheel of the bike is way too short to add training wheels. After the training wheels are on there just isn’t enough thread left to get the nut back on. Will be returning.

Hello Hank! While we do our best to make training wheels fit as many bikes as possible, there are exceptions to this depending on the design. The design of some bikes, particularly this model, are made with a rear axle that is too short to accept the additional width of training wheels and brackets. It may be possible to have a local bike shop extend the axle to accommodate the training wheels or bike stabilizers may be another option. We will inform our design team of your experience. Our 7 year old son finally outgrew his 16" bike, so this 20" fit the bill. We like that is has both the hand/caliper brakes and the coaster brake. We bought it at a local store already assembed, although I had to adjust the handle bars as they were assembled above the minimum line. Our son has been riding it for about a week and loves it. No issues with the seat or color (dark navy blue). Great deal if you get it on sale before your kid outgrows it in a couple years.

1. It was not assembled when we picked it up from the store. I was told by the rep, we don’t assemble bikes unless they are already assembled. If you need a assembled bike, I would suggest not to order online. 2. It says blue, but it’s purple. Bought it for my sons birthday and had to return it.

We are returning this bike. The bearings are messed up causing the wheels not to spin and lock up. My son was so disappointed as this was his birthday gift. The first bike the curbside girl tried giving us had a ripped seat. I should have known this already put together bike was a return.
