Q: How big a problem is toe overlap? I wanted to buy one on sale but when I tried it out in the store I noticed there was practically ZERO clearance between the pedal and the wheel when turning.

submitted by TexasCustomer - 6 years ago
  • A: There shouldn't be any toe-overlap with the front wheel. The bike you looked at, unfortunately, was likely mis-assembled by the employee who assembled it. When properly assembled, the brake caliper and rotor should be on the left-side of the bike (when sitting on it). If they installed the fork 180-degrees off, the wheel will be drawn inward and cause the issue you observed. Check over that particular bike again and see which side the brake is on. If its on the right, look at other stores close by and see if you can find one that's been assembled correctly.

submitted byRob - 6 years ago
  • A: I bought one with the fork installed backwards, it was an easy fix if your comfortable with tools. Otherwise, like the other poster said look at a different store for a correctly assembled bike. I would also ad that you should go over the bike yourself or take it to a bike shop for a tune up. I had to make several adjustments before I got mine "right". 1. Handlebar grips facing the wrong way (easy fix) 2. Brake rotors not aligned (intermediate adjustment) 3. Tires not inflated to recommended 85 PSI (easy fix) 4. Front/Rear derailleur was noisy or not shifting (I gave up and took it to a bike shop to sort out) 5. Front fork installed backwards - I didn't catch this at first, but you should be able to read the word "Schwinn" on the forks when your standing in front of the bike vs being able to see it while seated on the bike. (easy fix) 6. Seat adjustment, though not wrong per se, you should adjust to fit your height and riding position. (easy fix) Once I made the above adjustments, this bike rides and looks great.

submitted byROBBMAC - 6 years ago
  • A: Overlap between the front of your foot and the front wheel is not unusual in bicycles. This mostly not an issue. Make sure that your "outside" pedal is down when turning.

Q: I’m looking for a bike for a 6’5 man, wanting to ride light trails, camp grounds, sidewalks, urban roads, would this be suitable?

submitted by Mamax3 - 2 years ago
  • A: No. I'm 6'4", and 18.5" frame size is WAY too small for me. Done be misled by wheel size, it's frame size that matters.

  • A: Hi Mamax, The Schwinn Men's Circuit is a great choice for the terrain you listed. This hybrid bike works best on sidewalks and neighborhood riding but can also handle light trails. Thanks, Alex

Q: HELLO is this bike an entry level not for heavy duty riding

submitted by jperez - 6 years ago
  • A: I agree with the other reviewer. I've made several upgrades to mine and now ride it about 30 miles each day. It's seen everything from concrete trails to asphalt to muddy gravel trails to singletrack and hasn't missed a beat yet. It's a really good all-around bike and you take it almost anywhere you wish to go.

submitted byRob - 6 years ago
  • A: Yes and No. Casual riding and slow trails yes. Long trails, commuting 10 miles a day or something like that No, must buy some upgrades then yes.

You’re paying for the name, not quality. Pick better. After buying two separate bikes, one for men and one for women, they both came with problems that should’ve been acknowledged during quality control. An absolute mess. And don’t count on customer support.

After a year with my Schwinn MTN bike, it was time to upgrade and I was very interested in hybrid bicycles. I previously purchased my Schwinn MTN bike at Target and wanted to purchase again through Target so I kept an eye out to see what was available online & in store. After more research and reading reviews, I decided on the Schwinn Circuit Hybrid bicycle. I ordered through the Target app then picked up in our SUV that evening. Before taking the tags off and riding it, I took it directly to a local bicycle shop to have them do a complete and through inspection to make sure the bicycle was correctly assembled including the gears, disc brakes, chain, alignment, etc. so I could have total peace of mind that once I took that first ride, I knew it was 100% good to go. The local bike shop ended up making some minor adjustments and it also had them add slime to the tire tubes. I have been riding almost daily around my neighborhood for several weeks now and I absolutely love it! Excellent value for what I paid for and if you take care of it with routine maintenance, it will last and continue with high performance. Thanks Schwinn and Target!

Nice Disk Brakes

Perplexed - 8 months ago, Verified purchaser
This is/was going to be my errand bike, you know, one you could lock up and not worry too much about. I thought about going for the cheapest, but I also wanted to have an enjoyable ride. First the good parts! The brakes as mentioned in the headline are good for the price point and work solidly. It is also nice to have a kickstand. Shimano levers but non-branded calipers. Shifters and derailers are also Shimano. Other niceties are the mounting points for fenders and/or rack, one bolt adjustable seat angle (though I prefer the 2 bolt micro adjustable type) and very wide tire clearance should you want to go with that route. Some gorrilla must have tightened the quick releases though, for I needed a wrench to loosen them! Now, however, after a 30 minute ride I am thinking of returning the bike. There is a distinct, noticible clunk coming from the drive train. After some troubleshooting, I traced the problem to an wobbly no name freewheel (this is the reason for my value rating, skimping on the parts that no one checks). I have never experienced such a problem in many, many years of cycling. I am going to contact the support line and see what they can do. Even if it is replaced, wonder how long it will last? I may also experiment with this bike to see if a nice drivetrain will improve pedalling efficiency which I feel is lacking. Feels like my other bike with twice as wide tires is faster!

Me and my partner brought these bike about a month ago and we love them. We got them from a Target store so it was already assembled; well put together. We like it because it is really smooth to go up hill with, well, smooth to ride period. That's our personal experience. The only thing that we don't like is the hard seat. We had to stop riding for a while till we got a better seat, but now we cruise through the city with no problem.

Bought this bike for my son and didn't notice that it didn't have any shimano components at all. It even has a shimano decal on chain stay. The one I purchased had all microshift components, shifters, front and rear derailleurs. Isn't this advertised as having shimano components? I called Schwinn after the front derailleur broke and even they didn't have an answer. Everything definitely needs to be adjusted before riding.

Excellent overall and offers 90+% of what a $500-600 bike shop model does. great size for me, I'm 6' 180 pounds. Not too heavy and pretty quick. My Target assembly in Modesto was surprisingly great! Big issue is bottom bracket is unsealed. After roughly 200 miles the bearings started ticking loudly and were on their way out. Pacific Cycle/Schwinn sent me free replacements in roughly a week but they are junk and I didn't want this to be a regular repair job. I replaced with a sealed Shimano UN55bb (68x127.5mm) square taper bottom bracket. Bracket only a bit over $20 but takes a few tools too. 20 tooth bottom bracket tool, 4th hand tool (for re-adjusting shifter), pedal wrench & a crank puller. add in some anti seize lubricant compound and $95 dollars later I'm super happy. may be cheaper, certainly easier, to have a shop swap the bracket but I'm a DIY'er and happy to own the tools for future needs. Bike stand makes the job way easier. Other issues - seat pretty hard, I added a padded gel cover. Chain broke after 4 months but new, 3rd party one, was under $10 and is holding up perfectly. I thought the pedals were great (for plastic) but replaced with black and red alloy when I had things apart already. I've owned for over a year and easily ridden a thousand miles on it so far. Overall for the price I'm highly recommending.

I was riding it right after I bought it and the pedal fell off completely. The other pedal almost did to. I almost got hit by a car as I swerved when the pedal came off. Luckily the car had a good reaction time and good breaks. This happened while I was riding to a repair shop to check the front derailleur that wasn't working. The Bike repair shop also said that the front wheel was extremely loose and I'm lucky that didn't fall off as well. Do not buy this bike. You could get seriously injured and also have to walk home 3 miles because it breaks on you. If you aren't injured and have to be taken in an ambulance instead. I was lucky...

Great low-cost road bike. We purchased ours assembled from our local Target store. I found the same shifters and derailleur on a much more expensive Trek bike at another store. The disc brakes are typically features of bicycles costing much more. Happy with the disc brakes. We've had them 2 weeks, and have ridden about 20 miles. I do recommend that you have a local bike shop check it out after you purchase, because the assembler at Target is not likely to be a bicycle professional. The wheels and chain will need the proper lubrication for your bike to last. If you treat this bike well, it should last a while. I did replace the seat with a Cloud 9 seat, to be fair, the original seat was pretty hard.

Bike is OK--once I was able to assemble it.

Ordered online and bike arrived in good condition in undamaged box. Like previous reviewers, while I am mechanically inclined, this being my first bike in 30 years, assembly was a challenge because the manual does not provide specific instructions for this model of bicycle. Raleigh should provide a one or two page assembly guide specific to this bike. They do provide generic online assembly videos but for this model, the videos were useless. I am 6-0 and weigh 225. Inseam for me is 32". Raleigh says they test the bike for strength, etc. for a 250lb'er. So it may or may not be OK if one weighs more than 250. I had to raise the seat quite a bit. The height of the handlebars is not adjustable (at least I don't think they are?), consequently, I find myself tilted forward a bit more than optimal. As a first-time owner of a modern bike, figuring out how to shift with the "trigger" shifters took me a while. And yes, I did read the instructions in the manual and did go online for info. I will be riding on short trips of 3 miles or less so the bike is OK for me, but if I was a looking to do long hauls, the low handlebars in relation to the raised seat would steer me away from this bike.

The warranty on the bike covers replacement parts under manufacturing defect. The brakes need an initial alignment adjustment to allow them to function properly. The manual reviews this information with instructions to help with these. They can be tricky if you've never completed them before. Please give us a call at 800-626-2811 Mon-Fri 8am-5pm CST. Any of our reps would be happy to help get you fixed up and riding again. Thank you!

I picked up a black one in store. I wasn't really looking for a good-looking bike but mainly a well functioning one that suited my needs, but I lucked out and it is quite great looking. Just a nice paint job. I took off the wheel stickers and replaced the grips to allblack and it looks even better. I got it as I wanted a nice exercise bike for a 25 minute hilly ride I do three or more time weekly. This is fantastic for it. Light weight. I never wanted disc brakes before but now I see why people use them...they function excellently. One problem that popped up was the rear derailleur started shifting not-so-well within the first month. I read that the Shimano Acera was an inexpensive upgrade...and I tell you for $25 it is a great upgrade! I am semihandy with tools, and I was able to do it even without breaking the chain(it's a little tricky to do and took at least 120 minutes including retuning it). Not recommended if you aren't semimechanically inclined and don't have the tools. But it shifts like a dream now. I also have a gel seat pad I put on right away so it makes it comfy. I truly foresee me never needing another bike. This is just perfect for me. I really enjoy its ride quality and looks. And all for a reasonable price(I got it on sale too). Oh, I'm 5'11" with a 31 inch inseam and 180lbs. Fits me just perfectly too.

As soon as I was done putting it together which was fairly easy I took it for a ride and the front brakes were either too tight or not tight enough and my gears didnt shift smoothly. I brought it to a bike shop to tune it up and it cost me $25. The gear cable was kinked fresh out the box so they had to replace that. But I rode my bike home 9 miles from the repair shop and it was a nice ride. Everything was smooth, the bike is super light. I'll most likely get a more comfortable seat but aside from that as a inexpensive beginners bike its not bad.

Got this for my son starting college. Great weight, easy to lift, love the disk brakes (they needed some adjustments), seat is sporty but it does have some cushion. It was hard to find more than 1 location to install the Kryptonite U-lock (within the frame). Had some initial difficulties shifting gears for the front derailleur. Overall, would buy another one.
