I've had this laminator for a little over two years, and most of that time it has been sitting on a desk undisturbed and unused in a very nice, climate-controlled office building during the pandemic. Two months ago, I turned it on and laminated 10 sheets of paper. Today I pressed the on button and... nothing. I checked the outlet it was plugged into, and the outlet was fine. The laminator just doesn't work. I have laminated a total of about 30 sheets on this expensive machine and, now that the pandemic is waning, it is out of warranty and I am out of luck. My next laminator will NOT be a Scotch brand laminator.

I have had this TL1306 for two years. Worked well with very limited use. Suddenly, it stopped working. No ruff use or accidental damage. Opened the case and found the problem to be a ten-cent capacitor was burnt on the logic board (see photo). Called Scotch Laminator Department to purchase the part to repair and was told that replacement parts are not sold and recommended purchasing a new laminator. When I purchase items, price is secondary to quality which was the logic for purchasing a name-brand Scotch unit.

We were using it in the office and it jammed on us, I tried the next day to turn it back on to see if I could fix it and it started smoking. It's not that I don't like it but if it says never jam that's what it should be. We did try our luck again and brought another one.

I was got this 2 years ago... I ignored the fact that it would stop working after about 10 sheets, then last week it just stopped working. I’m glad I still have my TL901, they don’t make them like they used to.

Bought this for work a year ago, we've used it infrequently and now it will not power on. For the price it should have worked much longer and the 30 day limited warranty is of no use at all.

Bought this about a year ago while I was teaching abroad. Came back home and finally took it out so I could use it for teaching here and my papers wouldn't feed through at all. When I first plugged it in, a lot of smoke came out for a couple of minutes and then when the Ready light turned on, I placed my paper in the pouch sealed side in and held it for a few minutes. Laminator never grabbed onto to it to feed through. Held it for more than 5 minutes, more than 10. Never fed through at all. Super big purchase and even bigger letdown.

I have had this for a few months just just took it off the shelf and opened the box to laminate stuff for the first day of school. It shut off after the 3rd sheet. It had been on for maybe 10 minutes. It won't turn back on. This is the most expensive paperweight I have ever bought.

I bought this laminator used it exactly 5 times. Plugged it in tonight and it doesn't even start. I tried different outlet and it doesn't start. I also bought the laminating sheets (100) and now I'm left with 95 Scotch pouches. I will shop for another brand.

I'm a teacher, and I've used this product successfully for the last 8 months 100 times, to be exact (I just ran out of my first box of pouches). Yesterday I plugged it in, ready to break into my second box of pouches, and it wouldn't turn on. So I moved it to a different outlet and tried again. It heated up really quickly, but then STARTED SMOKING out the front AND the back. I'm NOT turning it on again. So... was it built to last for only 100 pouches? What a terrible product. So very disappointing. I'd like to buy a new one, but I'll look for another brand.

Do not spend any money on this product. Just stopped working after couple years never used it that much less then once a month. Just another cheap product inlandfill now. I wish companies would stop making cheap stuff that has such a short life. Obviously the reviews here tell me this is a weak design.

We bought one of these for my office in Spring of 2017 and it was dead by January of 2018. There were no lights and it didn't warm up at all. We got a replacement and that just died. Maybe I'll plead with customer service to see if we can get another one, but what's the point? I would estimate that both laminators were used a total of 20 times. 3M should be embarrassed to put their name on this product.
